what it really means? I mean why and when the prophets or God declared that sentence.

wait i got it , yes to understand the Quran , u should know why and the circumstances and what made it descent to get the wisedome out of it and not to get it out of the context, that is important.

Indeed. The Qur'an says in the Cow--in the beginning of the Qur'an, He describes believers by saying:

"And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter." 002-004.

Therefore, part of being Muslim is believing and studying the other monotheistic religions and acknowledging each Prophet-from Noah to Mohamed. (May peace be upon them). So we must study other religions because God told us to do so in order to understand his message of believing in One God and to submit to Him with no doubts.

I also believe that if people did not study the past, they can never learn in the future anyway.Those who ignore history are condemened to repeat it.
