Honestly. I think it's pretty bad when a 2,000 year old book with an unknown author controls EVERYTHING some people do. I understand if you need some sort of structure or guidance, but I think some people take it way too far. I know people are going to get offended by this but here it goes... Evolution is proven scientific fact, our DNA differs from chimpanzees by only 0.02%! Also, the big bang theory if you ever get a chance to read it makes alot more sense than the bible. We do have some evidence to support it, though it is not yet proven. The bible, however, was written 2,000 years ago, in an era where people believed in sea monsters, dragons, and other myths. We don't know who wrote it, and we can't prove that any of it happened. Sorry if your offended, but that's my view. Please explain why the bible rules so many people's lives. I'm open to all comments.

The Bible contains 1,189 chapters ,The Word of God-The Redemption of Man,stands alone above all others,
The Book of ISAIAH 66 chapters,Chap 53 The acceptable Sacrifice of Christ,
One of the Scrolls found at Qumran in 1948 contains the
same thing that ISAIAH has,you noted 2000 yr Time Line.
The Evolution is theory, that uses Billons of years ,so that leaves
A hole big enough to cover any questions. I am not offended by your question, you have same rights as anyone else. There has to be a Standard , I agree Man has come a long way,No, Man has gone A long way( Down ) in the last 50 yrs.I can"t even count the number of wars going on now, Can you count 10 people that you know, that are not mad (Offended) about someone or something,It is getting harder to find peace,Thank you

I'm gonna answer your questions, but this is first. You said alot of stuff disproving the Bible. Well, there's alot of stuff for it to...

The Bible was written by 40 different people, some of which are known, over the span of 1500 years. All the prophecies from the old Testament are fulfilled thru Jesus in the New Testament. The odds of the are so close to zero (1 in a really big numbre to the 153rd power). Actually, we can prove that some happened. Archaeologists found Jericho, and they cannot figure out what caused the walls to fall. This among other things.

About the big bang theory....i thought this was SUPER interesting. a guy nemed Roger Penrose caculated the odds of an orderly universe instead of chaos. The odd- 1/100,000,000,000 to the 123rd power. In normal words- about 0.

Why do people let the bible rule their lives. Because its divinely inspired (yes, written by men, but inspired by God). And if you read it with an open heart, it really does speak to u. The other day, i was really upset, and opened up to a psalm that completely helped me calm down. Its a reminder of how much our God loves us. Hope i answered ur Q!

There are lots of Christians that believe in Evolution and the Big Bang. The Roman Catholic Church, the Lutheran Church, The Episcopal Church, and most mainline churches have endorsed evolution, officially. I even come across one or two atheists that don't believe in evolution...yes, really.

Ya know, I honestly see now why Christians get so pis.sed at atheists. I think I must have answered this same damn question myself at least three times in a week. I used to think atheists honesty didn't know that a lot of Christians believe in Evolution, now I see they're just being *****.

I just answered a similar question to this about 15 minutes ago some airhead posted about "Why do you Christians Think We Came From Monkeys?" The atheists were saying things like "They hate science" and "They're like cockroaches and termites. You have to keep stepping on them".

Christians, after the things I've read atheists say, clearly out of hate, (the other question had much worse answers than this one) I want to say I know you're not all Creationists, and I don't understand all the hate either. Comparing your God to Hitler, and saying your weak minded, and the other things I've read is clearly uncalled for (even if I don't share your belief), and rest assured I do not share the hate.

The Bible is full of God's truth. You say you can't prove that any of it happened then tell me which of the following Biblical characters and places are a myth or never existed: Caesar Augustus, Egypt, the city of Antioch, Herod the Great, the Jordan river, and the Mediterranean Sea?

When was evolution proven scientific fact? Please give a reference for your statement as I would like to read it.

The Bible is made up of 66 books by various authors who were inspired by God to write it over the course of about 4,000 or so years (not one person writing over 2000 years ago).

Oh, and one more thing... DNA is actually proof that God created us. You should do some reading on the human genome project and find out the truth.

Weak minds. There is no other excuse for it.

Hey, if it brings their weak minds comfort and they don't shove it down my throat, let 'em go for it. When they come after me to try to convince me they're right though... no mercy.

None.

-----

Patrone: Wrong. Evolution is a fact. Natural Selection is the theory of how Evolution happens. Granted, I wish people would be more specific about this but sadly, the terms are often used interchangably. Further, the Big Bang is not, in fact, an explosion. Technically, an explosion requires a chemical reaction. This could not happen to form the universe since chemicals did not exist before the universe.

--------

Brittany W: You might want to look up abiogenesis and the evidence for it. Cell theory has already adapted to include these new data. You're operating on an outdated description thereof.

--------

Zoril, Miss K: Before you can ascribe responsibility / inspiration / authorship to your deity, you need to establish conclusively that it exists in the first place. You have not done so, so get to work on it. Then what you say might have some merit.

--------

Jesus_Freak: You worship Satan. Jesus was a liar and a fraud who mislead God's Chosen People away from the eternal covenant. Jesus was of the Adversary, not God. He failed MANY of the messianic prophecies.

Christians are the true Satanists for they worship a deceiver.

---------

Light!: From before 400AD until Martin Luther in the mid 1500's, the Bible consisted of 73 books. That's over 1100 years you are accusing your deity of allowing a false canon to exist.

You, in essence, admit that he cannot protect the Truth you claim he inspired. 1100 years without the PROPER canon is a pretty grevious failure, more than HALF the time that Christianity has even existed.

--------------------

Q&A Queen: If the Qu'ran is so ineffective, why is it credited with fixing so many damaged lives? How about the Poetic Edda? How about the Talmud? How about the Baghavad Gita?

They can't all be right, and they all are attributed with helping people fix their lives. It's not because any of them are true, it's because people found meaning in the stories that they found relevant to their own lives. That doesn't make them any less 'stories'.

Well, because there is a lot of truth in the bible. If used as the guideline for a person's life, they have the capability to do great good in this world.

I am amazed at all of the wisdom that is in the bible. I do not think that men could have come up with all of the wonderful insight it holds, because we are too greedy and self-seeking.

The only problem non-Christians have with the bible is that they don't want to have to follow all of the rules. But it's not about the rules. God gives us those guidelines because if we follow them we will be free from a lot of the pain that comes along with sin, such as adultery and the general guilt over hurting someone.

Well there are somethings that history and science has proved... but there are as many flaws in the big bang theory as you find in the bible.... the first being cell theory, which means all cells must come from another living cell... so it kinda hurts the theory of evolution... and the big bang... and the bible left in context really isn't a bad thing to live your life by, it basically tells you to love your neighbor as yourself, don't kill steal or commit adultery not to judge others... hmmm why would someone wanna live their life like that right!!!

Why?

(a) Said by Gandi in 1927 - " When your country and mine shall get together on the teachings laid down by Christ in this Sermon on the Mount, we shall have solved the problems not only of our countries but those of the whole world.' That from a Hindu!"

(b) The legal systems of a majority of the world's countries have many common elements and the commonality is that their basic laws are in harmony with those found in the ten commandments, such as the laws against murder and theft

(c) What MODERN book have you found capable of guiding people through the problems of living in todays world?

(d) If the Bible is ineffective, why is it credited with changing so many damaged lives?

You are, of course, correct. Many people lack either the time or the intellectual horsepower to do an analysis of the bible, but it does not require rocket science to do so -- I figured out at the age of 8 that the biblical tales could not be reconciled with science, and since science is obviously right (it works!), the bible had to go.

I doubt if you are sorry to offend anyone. I think that was your intention. First the authors are known, just not by you. You are spiritually blind and of course the Bible will not make sense to you. It would be like a child trying to understand Algebra. If you don't know God, it is no surprise that you would speak against His Word.
