I'd go somewhere else. Ocean City is a hole.

There is no commercial airport handy to Ocean City, just a small private one. The airport at Salisbury is not going to be a direct flight, as it's a tiny place. Dover, Delaware, might be closest, and that's not very close. I drive down that way about three times a year and I'm pretty sure that driving, no matter which direction you approach from, you're going to hit some small highways with lots of stoplights. It's kind of a stinker to get to from Kentucky.

You could fly.. the closest airport is Salisbury, MD but there's not many commercial flights into there. USAirways is the only airline that flies there and you'd definitely have to change planes. You'd still have to rent a car and get to Ocean City (45 min. drive). You could fly into Baltimore which would be at least a couple hours drive, probably 2 and a half hours, but it will probably be a lot cheaper to fly into Baltimore and cheaper to rent a car. But it might not save that much time either - you have to get to the airport and check in for your flight, then the flight is an hour and a half if it's nonstop or longer if you change planes, then get from the airport to Ocean City. Usually I would fly, but if it's really expensive to fly and rent a car then it might not be worth it.

drive if you fly you will be flying to thurgood marshall bwi airport or ronald regan national airport after that you will still be driving a 100+ miles and will take about 3 more hours , so it really depends on how much your willing to spend and the time , why go to ocean city is the real question if your in kentucky.

i've flown from dc/ baltimore to kentucky that takes about 2 hours + the 3 , 3 .5 or 4 hours it will take to drive to ocean city from airport depends on traffic. its really only going to be about a 4 hour difference in all so you decide

Drive. Lets add it up. If you fly it will be at least an hour to get to the airport(depending on where you live) Plus at least an hour getting checked in,going through security, and waiting for the plane.(it will usually be more)The shortest flight from Lexington to BWI is 3 hours on UsAir through Charlotte. Plus about an hour getting your bags and a rental car. Then its a 4 hour drive plus traffic to Ocean City. Thats about ten hours but you have to factor in delays at the airport, which will happen, and traffic, which will drive you crazy. Driving you will have much more freedoms of what to eat, when to stop etc.etc.. And it will be cheaper than paying for round trip flights and a rental car.

Well, if you fly commercially into Salisbury (via US airways thru Philly), I guess that would be OK. Otherwise you are drving 3.5 hours from BWI anyway.
