Yes. The law says if you know it's happening & don't report it, you're just as guilty as they are & it's not just theivery, it's also willfull destruction of provate property (destroying the tags). You are an accessory to the fact, Therefore can get in big trouble. Sounds as if you really need to get new friends & turn these theives in. I know that's not what you wanted to hear but it is the truth. Not only will you be in trouble with the law but the store/s can sue your parents in civil court to re-coup their losses. Think about it very strongly.

You are an accessory to a crime! You should maybe do the right thing and tip off the police. These "friends" are neither friends, nor good people. Next thing you know, you may find out they hurt someone because they feel they can commit crimes with impunity.

thats awful! i say turn your friends in, stealing is no joke. being a snitch is never good, but if they arent close friends then rat them out. if they are, tell them that if they dont return the stuff and/or dont stop stealing, you will turn them in...at least theyll have notice. your helping the companies they steal from, the employees whose pay checks get deducted, other shoppers who have to suffer from price raises, and your friends b/c they will eventually get caught and arrested.

You sure could - you are an accessory because you know that they are doing it and you are not reporting it.

I would suggest that you tell your parents, and you find new friends. These friends are on the road to being nothing more than felons.

stay far away from these people. "WHEN " they get caught not if they get caught you don't want to be with them. A theft on your record will haunt you for almost every job you can get. you never would be able to work with money. bank, store clerk . ect
for instance in Texas 2000 is a state jail felony. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM.
