Why are airfares so expensive for Europe this summer, will they come down in price, and when?

They are always more expensive in the summer. If you want cheaper flights fly in February/March or October/November. My girlfriend is flying on a direct flight from Charlotte to Germany cost is ~ $450 next week.

If she flew 2 weeks ago it would have been ~$400. She could have saved another $20 with a single stop over, but if not necessary worth the extra $20 to go non-stop.

Europe is most expensive in the summer because it is the busiest time period. Also it is far away and prices tend to be on the high side 4+ months in advance, but with summer being so busy the airline is usually on the dot. Wait until 6 weeks before you want to go to buy your ticket. Buy it with more than 28 days in advance to get the usually "best" price.

Another tip: It is usually cheaper to fly into Germany, Belgium, Austria, Spain, etc.. instead of France, UK, or Italy. They do not get as many tourist compared to those 3 European countries. If you intend to travel around Europe and visit several countries, fly into one of the less busy European countries instead and start your vacation from there.

well one fuel cost is high. second europe is popular so they jack the prices higher because they know you waqnt to go and well they are your ticket. the only time it comes down really is during the off seasons which is during december and other winter months bect is normally cold there and less people want to go so if they lower the price people will be like wow this is a great deal and gby the tickets.

its because of the previous fuel prices even though the current fuel price is lower i don't think they will lower it as they want to earn more money from consumers, I hope the budget airlines fly to europe soon, cheers
