Creation and Evolution equally and peacefully coexist where I live.

Clearly they think their understanding is better. Here are a few examples:

Peaceathome,
Firstly, the only people to say evolution tries to disprove god are creationists who are trying to put a spin on evolution. Evolution does not deal with the origins of the universe and biological evolution does not touch on how life was created. More to the point, the main Christian churches support evolution.

Lion of Judah,
Nice list of books. But anybody can write a book and have it published. What you’re not listing is peer-reviewed papers in reputable scientific journals. Why not? Oh, yes… Because there aren’t any at all. Not even one.

Daniel,
The story you talk about regarding dust on the moon was the work of Hans Pettersson who stood on a mountain top and collected dust there with a device intended for measuring smog levels. He estimated about 15 million tons per year. There were better techniques available and these have since shown that this is a bit of an over-estimate - more accurate measurements give the value of about 18,000 to 25,000 tons per year. By choosing to pick obsolete data with known problems, and call it the "best" measurement available, the calculations are based on a figure that is nearly three orders of magnitude too high. With the proper values, the expected depth of meteoritic dust on the moon is less than one foot.

In 1993 leading Creationist ‘scientists’ advised not using this argument anymore as it was too easy to refute.

Aussie,
If you don’t understand the word ‘theory’ in its scientific sense you really should not be talking about this. Gravity is a theory – do you disagree with it?

Jennifer D,
No atheists don’t think they’re understanding is better than scientists. That’s why we refer to the science and not to the propaganda. There is no creationist science. There is no scientific debate about evolution – there is one theory and no others. And in biological science there are only theories. No laws. No proofs. It’s not mathematics where everything is covered by an equation.

My understanding has been increased since I've read some work from and heard a Christian NASA Engineer. If the universe were 6.4 billion or even 6.4 million years old the stellar dust collecting on the surface of the moon should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 feet deep. However, the dust was only 1/4 inch deep when Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon.

I do believe the universe and earth are much older than 6000, but modern genetic scientists have traced man's existence to roughly the same time as the Bible (approximately 6000 years).

Do scientists think they have all the answers ?They can't even agree between themselves.Evolution was only ever a theory & was eventually abandoned by it's author ! The last few generations have been led by the ring thru their collective noses by scientists searching to promote science above truth at any cost !!You figure out why !!

Actually, given their statements and general disregard for the evidence to support evolution, it would seem that they think they have a much greater understanding. Too bad they're wrong...

Creation science is about as much a science as the Sahara is an ocean. Using scientific jargon, and pretending to do research to answer an already established conclusion are not science...its propaganda.

i'm SO not a creationist, and i don't even understand evolution that well! (as a scientist, that is)

what in the world is *peaceathome* trying to say???
"To evolve means to develop so you can develop a machine"
whaaaaaaaaat?????

and evolution is a scientific theory, that uses scientific evidence, more so than cretonism--oh i mean creationism--does

They think so, but they are sadly mistaken. For most creationists, their main source of evolutionary info is their preacher or other creationists. This is why the lies of one creationist are the same lies as every other creationist.

HA HA HA HA HA! That'd be funny if they do because the general consensus among scientists is that Evolution is the real deal!
