God must be first in our life -- not money, sex, power, fame, etc.

Pure monotheism, not worship of Jesus nor the holy spirit or anything other than God/YHWH. This is one of the great contradctions of Christianity. Last sunday my pastor mentioned a verse just like this one and then prayed to Jesus. I asked someone else about it and she said that that was what they did since they were a child and its always been that way. Then she changed the subject.

I interpret it as God should always come first in your life. you should be willing to give up anything for him. Plus, he got very mad when people worshiped false Gods, so I would put that under there too.

That thou shalt keepest thy God number 1 and put nothing else before thy God! Jews will say that having something like Jesus breaks that commandment point-blank! While Christians will say it's not being broken because you believe jesus is God!

God should be number one in your life, the focus. I don't mean spending all your time praying or reading the Bible, but when you contemplate doing anything He should be considered. A way of ordering your priorities.

It means taht you will not give any other thing priority over God. If you keep putting off reading your Bible or other Christian things you do, for your own pleasures, then you've made them your gods.

That He is number one....we live for Him not for us. That we keep his laws and Sabbath and feasts out of love for Him.

That He is before anything else and anything that opposes Him is not worth the paper its written on. He owns everything!

Nothing is to have more importance than your one true God, the one that created you and gave you life.

We put many things in front of our relationship with God and he knows this, and warns us against it.

That He is the only true God and you should not make anyone or anything more important than Him (doing so it would make it your god...eg, money).

You should have no other gods.
Forget the before me, it means in place of me.

achilles watch your heels, your pastor should be praying to the Father in the name of Jesus, that is what Jesus said to do.
If that is what he is doing, he is doing right.
