There are two main divisions-the Catholics and Protestants (resulting from the Reformation Period).
But in the Protestant movement, there are a heck of a lot of denominations! You'll get the traditional ones, like the Anglican church, Methodist, Presbyterian...these are owned by the elders of the church and the church of Scotland (the Anglican is from the church of England)! There are other denominations like that....then you'll get the more modern ones; like Baptist, Pentecostal...they are more lively!

Christians are like snowflakes, no two are alike.

There are roughly 2 billion Christians worldwide, so there are about 2 billion denominations.

Kinda makes you think the Holy Spirit, which supposedly helps folks to understand and interpret their faith, isn't worth a bucket of warm spit. That guy can't get anybody to agree on what anything means.

There's approximately 10,000 different Protestant denominations -- ALL of them manmade from 1517 (the time of Martin Luther) and on. ALL seek to do their own thing and to follow their own interpretation of Scriptures. The Catholic Church goes all the way back to the time of the Apostles, who were literally THE followers of Jesus.
