I feel for you. Try some pain reliever (Advil, Tylenol, etc.) and maybe some Orajel. That should reduce the muscle & gum pain. You can also try "teething" on something like an ice cube wrapped in a wash cloth. Your orthodontist should be able to give you a little plastic disk that you can gnaw on. Mine called them chewies. You might also be able to find them in the toothpaste aisle of your drug store or Target/Wal-Mart. Believe it or not, chewing on something helps with braces pain just like when we were babies and getting our teeth. Be prepared to drool though...might not want to try it in public. :) In a couple days or so, the pain should go away. If not, contact your ortho and see if there's anything he can do. He might have made too much of an adjustment. Hope you feel better soon:)

sip some smoothies so you don't have to eat as much, gurgle some ice water to numb the nerves in your gums, give the rubber bands a rest for an hour each day to help you get used to it, no tylenol and advil did not work for me at all, just put more unnecessary medicine in my bodies.. more work for the kidneys! umm the best thing that worked for me was anbensol jr. for kids and teens it numbs your teeth for about an hour

Take some ibuprofen or tylenol and put oragel on your gums if they are sore. Drink some ice cold water. If by day after tomorrow it hasn't let up, you should call and let them know.
