I've been good friends with a guy for 7 yrs now. my friend met him first and immediately started dating him. him and i have always had this weird connection but out of respect for my girl friend, i never acted on it. they have been broken up for a long time now and i find lately him and i have been spending more time together. my real question is how do i see what could be without ruining what already is?

You don't......... if you press now for a more involved relationship...you run the risk of making a mess of the whole thing. It's already happening that you two are getting closer, and it will continue until you both realize that it's more than friendship. Be patient. Remember that it's gonna be a little weird, because, unlike someone who you just met, you already know a lot (if not too much) about each other. Not a lot of mystery or surprises right now. Those happen later.

it is not ruining anything if things work out...but if things do not then there is no way to do get around this. just realize that with actions there are reactions. if you are good friends now for 7 years you may still be good freinds when the relationship ends? if it turns out to be a healthy relationship than this is just a stepping stone for better things to come...just think how long you have waited for this moment? how exciting!
