Oh my god! I have been in this situation a million times. What is it with guys? Why do they think that just because we're friends that we should be dating? Ridiculous!

Anyway - I have tried a million tactics and the best one where people don't end up too angry or crying is to tell them that you think you're in love with someone else. Don't specify who or get into details. This then, isn't offensive or upsetting to the guy, because it's not about him, it's about you being in love with someone else.

I know it's wrong to lie, but I just hate tears and drama! Good luck!

tell him you would rather be friends because friends last longer than boyfriend-girlfriend relationships. it would let him know that you still want to be friends without being too close. and its an easy quick answer.

tell him how you feel. If he doesnt understand well thats just too bad. Dont live your life by tiptoeing around others. be straight forward and you'll go far in life.

just tell him he's too much of a friend. he shouldn't get upset and if he does, he really likes you. just tell him you don't want to ruin the friendship.
