Definitely! You can download open office which will even save your essay into microsoft word format if you like. It is free like beer (costs no money) and free like thought (the source code is available.)
It also works on almost every platform.

No, even when people yawn I don't. I like to play a game with my friends where someone will yawn and we saw who yawns first. I never usually win unless I'm sick with a cold because I get so tired it's as if I stayed up a whole week with a wink of sleep.

Keep in mind that WORDPAD is a little word processor. It's not as glorified as word but has many little tools in it. You'll find it under Start/Programs/Accessories/Wordpad

go to www.openoffice.org and download their office program, it is fully compatible with microsoft office and even better it is free, good luck
