I think you should hold on to your fart till you get a place where only you can inhale your waste product! I find it rude and disrespectful for people to fart in public places not being mindful of their foul stinking bowel movement. There are already enough pollutions in the air to breath than to have to inhale people's farts.
Keep your farts to yourself!!!
Farting in public shows that you have no manners or respect for those around you!
Keep the sorry for yourself in your own privacy!

hahaah is this a real question or just for laughs? I'd just thank G-d I'm in an elevator and can make a (hopefully) quick exit and not in some place where I'm stuck for a long time!!! I wouldn't bother apologizing but would get the heck out

Don't let the gas out. If you did, Politely claim what you did. You can say that different ways.
1) Excuse me(simple professional)
2) Oops, I pulled the pin and threw the grenade (to be light hearted)
3) INCOMING GRENADE(to be aggressive and funny) Maybe later you can apologize for your act of passing gas.
4) OOPS I FARTED (Hey the simple plain old way of claiming your)
By claiming what you did, you are letting others know you are responsible. If they don't like it, let them live with it, till their floor is reached or they can walk upstairs. I would not be offended by my body action.

Saying "excuse me" would be the proper thing to do, but I'm not always proper. Luckily, the elevator ride will only last a few seconds, so whatever you decide to do, chances are, the people riding with you won't see you again. But I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who blames other people. lmao. :)

if you're about to get out of the elevator, then you can say "excuse me"....but i think it would be kinda awkward to of farted and everyone know that the smell was from you for the rest of the ride.

That depends on the kind of gas you pass.
If it was audible, "Oh, pardon me," is in order.
If it was silent, there is no reason to excuse yourself.
If it was silent and smelly, do what everyone else is doing - looking for a guilty face.

If you were in a jail cell with a another convict would you say..../? Now remember the celly is a nut ok and you won't be passing gas when the celly is through with you.

Just carry a can of Glade with you. You're going to need it anyway. The fart smell hangs on your clothes for a few minutes. It's going to follow you around.
