Aero Glass is one of the cornerstones of Windows Vista, but it puts a load on your video card that will affect game performance.
There are several reports of Microsoft telling developers that current games will run 10 percent to 15 percent slower on Vista than on Windows XP as a result.
It remains to be seen whether this performance hit will continue to be an issue on games designed specifically for Vista.

Do not bother .... I have every version of Vista for free at my disposal & have realized that its benefits are more for "Big Brother" & copyright lawers than for you & I.
Bill can keep it & put it you know where.

No, not at all (at least not unless you're about to buy or a new computer or do some serious upgrading and if you buy a new computer you can get Vista on it).
It'll be at least a year and probably more before Vista only games start coming out so unless there is a game that won't run on what you've got there's no point spending money on it or wasting time downloading it and then a crack or however you get it.
In all likelihood if you put it on what you've got the performance will be inferior to your current setup.
In summary: don't get it until you get your next computer or need it to run a new game (even then you'll probably need to upgrade your computer).
Linux as someone has suggested is a better operating system (and you can get it for free legally) but it doesn't really have anywhere near as many games and very few of the titles those who call themselves gamers would be playing for it. As much as I like Linux and hate windows you are probably a person who is going to live with windows for a while (though I would expect Linux to eventually take over everything).

If your a hardcore PC gamer than I would wait until service pack 1 comes out for Vista. If you are just a regular computer user, I would recommend switching to the Mac with its far superior OS X. On the hardware front you quality components at a cheaper price than other PC vendors. You also get a lot of nice built in features like the iSight camera built in. Thats just one example of many. But the real difference is the software. Mac OS X is years ahead of Windows which is why Microsoft blatantly riped off OS X for Windows Vista. To see how badly Vista rips off OS X check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsrkdbis6 With the Mac you also get the iLife suite of applications which is the best in class, award winning software suite for free so you don't have to buy any extra software. You also don't have to buy any anti-virus or spyware programs because Mac OS X is built with security in mind on a rock solid Unix based foundation. And since all Apple computers now run with intel inside you can boot up Windows (or Linux) if you need to and that gives you the most software choice over any other type of computer. Its like 3 computers for the price of 1. PC laptops might seem cheaper sometimes but when it comes to total cost of ownership, the Mac is much cheaper. You get a lot more value with the Mac.

Linux operating systems are excellent. Try out one of the free distributions. My favorite is UBUNTU. You can download it, or order a CD, at
http://www.ubuntu.com .
You will also get all the software, that you will ever need, FREE - See

security wise. somewhat. the newest operating systems are somewhat virusresistant at first. plus next gen security. however next gen security rarely varies from current security tech.the cool interface attracts most peopel but like all new os's it will probably suck until at least sp2.
