I'm 53 I find I answer many questions here. Today I joined Yahoo personals. I've dated women from under 5 ft to 6 ft 6 in and she usually wore heels. I'm 5 ft 7 in. Also dated women of pretty much all weight ranges. Today I went through all 285 woman in the age and distance suggested. I think I only found 8 who would consider dating a man my height. I know we men are said to be caught up in apperances but I didn't expect this. Some won't date men less then 8 inches taller then they are. Emotionally it really hurt, I guess this explains why i'd get turned down at high school dances.
I'd appreciate it if only the ladies answered this

Au contraire! Well maybe because I'm short too, but I think that men who are not very tall are very sexy and attractive... Besides, that would help me be able to dance cheek to cheek!!! LOL!

im 5'8 and used to only be attracted to men that were taller than me. recently i met this amazing guy that just about an inch shorter. i almost blew him off because he was shorter than me, but after our first date i knew i made the right decision. it has been the best relationship i've ever had and am glad i gave it a shot.
as an added note, when you're using dating services and skimming through profiles, keep in mind that the women are stating their preferences, not their requirements. a majority of women would like their ideal man to be taller, but that doesn't mean they're totally against a man that's not. 5'7 isn't super short or anything so i think you'll have plenty of women to choose from that are shorter than you!

Aaawww, that's a bit sad that some women would put so much emphasis on height. For me personally, it doesn't matter how tall the guy is. I'm 5'8" and have dated men who were shorter and taller than me, so I think there are women out there who really could care less about the height of a man.

I do look for men taller than me (5'3.5"), but does not mean that all women do.
I find that some of us at a stage where looks & appereances are top priorities, but I have begun to realize that this is immature behavior and it indicates that we're not looking for serious, meaningful relationships.
I believe that women who are interested in a "real" relationship do not consider height/weight/age a crucial issue. What counts is the man inside.
If a woman will not date you because of your height, you definitely do not want to be with her! This will save you a lot of time and money.

I prefer a man who's taller than me but then height is not important. If a guy's short and i feel comfortable with him and love him i don't see why we can't go out. Actually I think when taking a picture with the guy taller makes a much nicer picture. Well that's what i always tell myself.

are you darting women more your own age? I think women from about 50 and up would be happy to date you...if you are average looking and of normal wt. (i am not looking but if i were) I'd go to a church...and join a singles group...and then I'd be looking for a man that was kind, decent, clean...respectful, loyal,and had a genital and genius heart.........I'm 62...and let me repeat...I'm not looking ...I found mine..(smile) and he has all those quality's......and I never checked his height and we've been married for 38 years.....your special one is out there...now go find a church and get to know the women and let them get to know you......if your the right kind of guy ...she wont be noticing your height( not that anything is wrong with 5' 7'' ) good luck

yes, even my elder sister agree that. Most woman just want a man that give her secure all the time and may be may be want a mature type guy to hang up with, not the tiny man like her small brother not a really boyfriend type. If this tiny man is rich that the differents story.

On behalf of Women like myself i apologize. I don't think that it is something we do to hurt Short- Average height Men, It's an unconscious choice. We all want to look up into the eyes of our mate. Frankly it's cute, P.S look more into girls that are shorter than you.

Most women look for men that are taller because it gives them a little more security. I'm 5'2" and I've always dated guys that are taller than me. Just try finding a woman thats really short.

i dont get it. everyone wants someone who is perfect, men and women alike.
yet here is a man who says he has dated a wide variety of women.
by the sound of it a woman's size, height, etc. are not an issue for him and if he is to be believed then all these women are missing out on a fantastic fella!

I'm a pretty 5'4 young lady, and height is a major factor to me, when it comes to dating. Everyone has their own opinion about it, but I think that its up to that person. I like tall guys, because I feel more comfortable and safe. I can't really explain it, but its like, you feel protected. Its definetly a girl thing. But thats how it is, and thats how its gonna be!
