Depends on how old you two are, and if you feel the same way....
under 12- try his favorite candybar or a gift certificate
13-17- food is always good- date at his fav restaurant, your treat
18-25- sexy boxers or... yep- food. Make dinner at your place and invite him over for a romantic candle-lit dinner.
26+- Dinner at your place, see above. or 5-minute-wear for yourself- what a gift!!
If you don't feel that way about him, a card is always a nice option, no matter the age.

well alot of guys dont care if its romantic or not so here are some things you can buy him:
-a cd he wanted
-a naked gal greeting him at the door with a cold beer in her hand
-or take him out to dinner!!!
