If you're a single taxpayer and not a dependent of another taxpayer, you must file if you had more than $8,450 in wages, or more than $400.00 in self-employment income.

If you had less income but had income tax withheld, you must file to get those withholdings refunded.

Check with a pro, but I remember when I was young that you have to file income taxes for anything that wasn't under the table. The good news is that if you make a very small amount, you will get all of your money back.

If you're asking if you are allowed to file, you may if you have even $1 of income. If you're asking if you HAVE to file, the limits vary by your marital status, whether you're claimed as a dependent by anyone, and where the income came from like a job as an employee, self employment, or investments..
