The name you choose says as much about you as it does about your dog. It shows how you view your dog and your relationship with it. Some names can cause people to judge a dog and react positively or negatively/fearfully when meeting it. Depending on whether the dog is a pet, therapy dog, search & rescue dog, tracking dog or any other dog that works with the public, it is important to use a name that conveys the proper image. Happy searching!

Popularity:
The most popular dog name in North America is Sam, Sammie or Samantha (which means "listener"). The second most popular is Max, Maxie, Maxwell or Maxine (which means "the greatest" in Latin). Third is Lady, followed by Bear, Maggie, Buddy, Tasha, Chelsea (or Chelsie), Holly and Shasta. Other very popular names are Brandy, Ginger and Taffy.

Facts:
1. Did you know dogs learn easier if their name ends with an "ie or y sound"
...So I was thinking Lucy, Chloe, Molly, Anny, sammy.

This is a great timing for you because I just got a dog and I had a lot of decisions to make.

Here are some of the names that scored the highest in my book:
-Roxy (the name we chose)
-Maui (we were into the Hawaiin names and Maui is an island in Hawaii)
-Aspen (a city in colorado, home of ski slopes)
-Vail (another city in colorado)
-Jazzy (we had friends who named their small black dog Jazzy. It's a really good choice
-Bella (we all know that means beautiful)
-Blackberry (its kinda cute)
-Itty Bitty (if its really tiny)
-Poko (means small)
-Runt (if its really tiny)
-Shortie (very small)

I hope I was some help to you. Good luck with your dog naming, and have fun with your dog!
