Where to start...
clothes-David's Bridal they have sales on wedding gowns or find a white prom dress, some times they are prettier then some wedding dresses.

Photos- find a friend who has a good digital camera and see if they will take the pictures for you ( when you have a friend taking them they have your intersts at heart, you can look at the pics right then and there, some times when you go pro you take a chance of getting crappy photos--had many friends who have had bad experiences with a pro-)

Reception-- if a group of people want to give you a gift see if they will make the reception their gift to you, it may only be cake, mints, nuts and punch --but people come to see you get married not to eat.

flowers- buy silks and make your own--Hobby Lobby has great prices they also have books on how to make your own bouquets ( silks are easier to save)

Ceremony/ reception--find a place where you can have both in the same place.

Music for reception-- have a grooms man or other friend bring in a CD player and play cd's

Hair and makeup--do it yourself you do it everyday anyway

There are so many corners to cut..the above things either I have done myself or friends have done and it's saved a lot of money

Again...no details! Ok, I'll give it my best shot.

Do you know someone that could make the cake? Rather than getting it from a bakery?

If it is informal....go to Sam's Club or any warehouse food store and buy the little 'finger foods.' Can you make the table centerpieces?

First wedding? Wedding dress doesn't have to be a traditional one.....and a groom can look just as sharp in a nice suit.

Trust me.....you actually want to concentrate on the marriage. We had a pitiful little wedding....but our marriage has lasted 30 years.

Good luck and congrats!!

Contact a wedding consultant. Let them know how much you are spending and what type of wedding you would like to have and they can give you suggestions that will help you stay within your budget.

There are a lot of information on a thank you to shrink corners. Buffet. you may request that acquaintances and kin help in making the foodstuff previous to time (pre-prepare dinner and freeze, then heat up for the super day). instead of hiring waitiers to grant the foodstuff, you have a buffet - yet which could advise seating charts are incredibly lots ineffective with each and all of the shifting around. pretend plant life can do wonders and are lots affordable than paying for a bouquet of stay ones. table cloths could be offered incredibly affordable at revenues - shop an eye fixed out and hang-out shops! they have the main inexpensive fees. in case you are able to stitch - or be conscious of somebody who can - then make your individual wedding ceremony gown and bridesmaids dresses (suits are trickier). you do not desire a DJ; you merely desire a working laptop or pc with limewire (or another music sharing/enjoying application) which would be hooked as much as audio equipment - and somebody to demonstrate screen the playlists, of path! Make your individual wedding ceremony cake. Make your individual favors. Bubble blowers are affordable and be offered in bulk instead for rice/seeds. in case you be conscious of somebody who can supply a chit on marrying you, then it incredibly is sturdy - and you do not could marry in a chapel, you are able to marry in the same place which you carry your reception. Do a seek for craft web pages to get greater suggestions, DIY weddings is a super place to look, and don't be ashamed or embarassed to pass into goodwills or junkstores for issues like bowls, candles, and now and back craft substances. Michael's, Joann fabric's, Pat Catan's, and Walmart all have outstanding products to apply for a DIY and affordable wedding ceremony.

Sure. We did ours for less than $1000, including travel.(Across country, for 11 people - and lodging for them as well!)

How? well, I went to a resale bridal shop for my dress and my teen daughter's dress - with alterations to my dress, they cost $115 total. Satin full length gowns in excellent shape.

I made my husband and son's vests, bought them each new slacks and new white shirts.Total cost for the men? $75

We then rented a place for the ceremony and reception that is part of a museum. A lot of museums will rent out their space for these type of events, and the spaces are WONDERFUL! The museum I used to work for would rent their entire church out for $350 for 3 1/2 hours of use. We rented the chapel of this old unique manor house - the chapel is an octagon - and the museum it now is charged us $150 to use the chapel, a changing room, and hold the reception out on the patio of the house.

Pick up your own table and chairs, unless there is no charge for delivery and pickup. Actually renting their tableclothes is cheaper than going to buy your own - even paper ones cost more.

DON'T rent the dishware. You can actually pick up dishware cheaper - even if you buy china and not plastic - than most rental companies will rent them for. Want plain white dishes, standard wine glasses? Check out the dollar stores, in all seriousness.

Have friends do the music, or contact a local college for all of the above: Invitations, photographer, musicians. A lot of people want and would love to use this stuff for their portfolios - it always looks better when they've dones some 'real" work - and their prices usually are cheap. Otherwise, do the invites yourself.

Food - recruit people in the family to make food, and make stuff that people will actually eat. Salmon mousse? Who eats that? The entire thing was still whole at the end of the reception for my first wedding (but it was my ex mom in law's deal, so we had it.)

If not, see a local grocery store instead of a catering service. they can do just as lovely a job - on everything- as a caterer does, and a whle hell of a lot cheaper.

Flowers - rent avideo on how to arrange flowers and do them yourself. If you buy the flowers by the stem, you often get away a lot cheaper than if you buy them arranged, even the bouquets. You can usually buy the bouquet parts -handles and such - at craft stores like Hobby Lobby. It's actually easy to arrange them; I did my sister's and it looked professional. the cost? $25 worth of roses and babies breath, versus a "profesionally" done bouquet at a cost of $75-$100.

Church decoration. You can buy online or in craft stores - large rolles of 6- 12 inch wide tulle that works lovely for draping and bows and all kinds of decorations.

I'm sure there's more I could think of, but I've lost track of what I've said so far.

Bottom line - if you do a lot of things yourself, not only can you be sure they will be as you want them, you can also make your weding unique without having to pay the huge cost of a wedding planner to make it "unique" - which it often isn't.

Some things you can go cheaper on, others you don't want to.

Tips-
Don't spend alot of money or time on favors( guest don't always take them and if they do they don't always save them)

Don't spend much money on the cake- get something simple call around for prices and if you are inviting 250 people, don't order a cake for 250 people not everyone eats cake.. trust me!

Flowers- consider using artificial flowers intend of going to a florist for centerpieces and flowers decorations.. you will save yourself alot of money

ask guest to contribute to your honey moon- my sister-in-law stayed at the pocono's and they had an account set up where guest could call in and contribute to their honeymoon .. it was a great idea

I hope these ideas are helpful ... congratulations!
