Why are prescription charges so much more than the average drug prescibed?
This must be a boom industry despite DSS/DWP consessions

doctors are on a budget they will percribe as much as they can ,in Wales you only pay £3 for percriptions in April it will be free I personally don't agree with free perscriptions now people will be asking doctors for pain killers they are cheap enough, ok if you are on a low income thats ok .lots of people ask if the tablet percribed is cheaper to buy over the counter our pharmacists will tell you
there were quite a few cheaper than £6.50 so we used to buyover the counter we only pay £3 now so don't bother asking now

Yeah, we were talking about this the other day...I need prescriptions all the time but don't fall into the category where I can get them free even though I'll need them long term. I have a pre payment card which makes it a bit cheaper but it's still soooo expensive.

Apparently, someone on here said that in Wales, from April, there will be no prescription charges...well if they can do it, why can't we????

The government are in charge of the price of prescription prices.

GP's will prescribe a drug that is both correct for you and cost effective.
