I know it sounds lame but while I'm a pretty good cook, I've never made Tuna Noodle Caserole. It was my husbands favorite when he was a little boy and I thought it would be fun to surprise him tonight. I can't find a recipe in any of my cookbooks. Anybody got a recipe?

Success!!! My husband said the casserole was great. Since I used a combination of everyone's recipes (based on what I had in the fridge), I don't think it would be fair to pick a "Best Answer", so I'm going to leave that up to the voters!
Thanks again for your help!

You can try.....
1.
1 can cream of celery soup
1 (6 ounce) can tuna
1 (15 ounce) can Veg-All or mixed vegetables
1/2 cup milk
1 cup cubed cheddar cheese
1/2 stalk celery, chopped finely
1 small onion, finely chopped (if you prefer use onion powder)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 (8 ounce) package egg noodles, cooked ( macaroni may be used)
prepare and mix all ingredients in large bowl and put into covered casserole dish to bake at 350 for 30-45 min or until bubbly.
May be topped with buttered bread crumbs if crusty top is desired.
or............
2. The low fat version...
2 cups egg noodles (Use no-yolk noodles if you want)
1 tablespoon margarine, divided
1/2 cup celery
1/4 cup chopped yellow onions
1 cup low fat cottage cheese
1/4 cup low-fat mayonnaise
1 (6 1/2 ounce) can tuna in water, drained
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
6 soda crackers, coarsly crumbled
salt and pepper
Preheat oven to 425F degrees.
Cook noodles, drain and set aside.
While the noodles are cooking in a skillet melt half the margarine over medium heat saute the onions and celery until tender about 7 minutes.
set aside.
In a bowl combine; cottage cheese and mayonnaise.
Stir in noodles and celery, onions, tuna, and worchestershire sauce.
Salt& Pepper to your taste.
Put noodle mixture in a 1 1/4 quart cassarole dish.
Sprinkle with crumbs and dot with remaining margarine.
Bake until it turns golden brown (about 25 minutes).
Serve immediately.

Get the kind of pasta or noodles that your husband remembers in the 'tuna noodle casseroles' he loved when he was a kid. Using 'the wrong stuff' can be FATAL. Boil it until it is 'al dente' and then drain it and put it into an 'oven dish' ... add one can of GOOD tuna ... do NOT buy the 'chunk' tuna now, if that's what he loved back then, because it's not the same any more ... you'll probably need 'solid white' tuna. Add one can of mushroom soup and 1/2 can of milk (you can use half and half or even cream, but be careful because you are trying to make the same food he used to love), and if he can remember having things like 'chopped celery' or 'chopped onions' add those. Stir until mixed, put 'slightly crushed potato chips' or crackers, or whatever your husband 'thinks' went on top, and bake for one hour at 350 degrees.

I like a creamy casserole. Cook 1 to 2 cups egg noodles, drain well. combine the noodles with: 1 cup cream(can substitute milk) with 1 can mushroom soup( mix soup and cream together first),then add grated carrots and peas( add to taste, I only add a small amount of each, just for color), 1 can tuna fish, a little cheddar cheese, and top with canned fried onions(can substitute bread crumbs or potaote chips). cook for about 30 to 40 mins at 350 to 375 degrees.

Boiled noodles, two large cans of white meat tuna, a large (family size) can of Mushroom Soup, celery, green onions, shredded cheese and your favorite crackers. Chop the celery and onions add to a casserole dish, add cooked noodles and mushroom soup, mix well. Put in microwave until celery is slightly soft (10 min). Remove and add shredded cheese to the top of the casserole, crush the crackers and sprinkle over all.

Oh, confident! now and lower back I incorporate a kit of the frozen mixed greens, yet it quite is non-obligatory. have relaxing and revel in!!!

I like Flightpil's answer, except I'd add peas only and not mixed veggies. And be sure to have enough tuna in it. Yum, think I'll cook that tonight!
