Well, I'm most experienced in traveling in Europe, so my suggestions will be there:

- Poland, especially Cracow. Beautiful City, still not visited by a lot of touristas. Though it's a popular party spot for Poles.
- Czech Republic. Prague's nice, and food/beer are still inexpensive compared to its neighbors.
- Slovakia:
- Slovenia
- Croatia (Coast near Split is a favorite destination for Europeans)
- Turkey: yeah it's safe
- Ukraine. Kiev's getting pricey, but Odessa on the Black Sea is a resort area.

if you use the word safe,

you'd better stay at home,
because you know the US has more guns than any other country.

you're probably safer there.
