Today was a terribly sad day. Last night a boy in the 6th grade, (one I knew) at the school I work at, committed suicide by hanging himself with a cord from his computer. It has been suggested by his friends, some of whom he told he was going to do it, that it was basically because of a girlfriend who had dumped him in December. Obviously, this is tragic. I'm not a Christian, but I heard a few people comment today that now he wouldn't go to heaven. Personally I think that is somewhat akin to kicking a child while they are down as far as they can go. I don't believe in heaven or hell, but I think that if most people believe that what he did was bad enough to deserve burning in hell..(at the age of 11)..that is absolutely atrocious. Christians, I'm not here in an attempt to blacken your doctrine, I simply ask for a straight answer, and if you would..the logical reasoning behind it. Please folks, no stupid jokes or comments..

Host : I wonder how much experience you have with eleven year olds that you would be able to positively say they know what they are and are not responsible for. I spend most of my days in classes full of that age group and I can positively say that they know little for certain..their minds certainly have not matured enough to completely understand such concepts as death and suicide. I asked for logical reasoning not projections of what you think you know..apparently YOU are too immature to be able to give such things. Unfortunately, you are one of those folks that makes organized religion look REALLY bad...one would think the inital reaction of a reasonable human being would be.."goodness, how terrible"..not.."too bad so sad"....(and that's the way your answer comes off.) Goodluck in life ..apparently you're going to need it with that kind of attitude.

Host : I have no problem with the people that said what they did based on christian doctrine..can't say I particularly like it and I definately don't believe it..but I won't take issue on such a point when it was what I asked for. It is logical to suggest that an eleven year old knows that doing such things will cause his death, but to take it further and say that he understands completely what he is doing (an absolute)..is a completely different thing. Had you, or any of the other answerers that stated this opinion, provided evidence that made such a position seen even a little reasonable I would have taken it a lot more seriously.
In the legal system children are not punished in the same way that adults are when they commit the same crimes..the reason why seems obvious to me.
I called you immature because you suggested that irishmom's compassion in some way made her less intellectual..how absolutely absurd.
By the way, it was your opinion I blackened..not your doctrine

When that child took his own live at the age of 11, he was not in a stable state of mind, so how can he be held resonsible? You're going to hear a lot of opinions from a lot of different people about where they think he ended up, but you know what?....it doesn't matter. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers and remember him as he was. It is no one's place to condemn him, and shame on the one's who would.
I'm sorry about your terrible day. I hope things get better for you.

Yes, he will go to hell. God says murder is wrong. Suicide is killing yourself. Anything else is just an excuse. And just to state the fact, God does NOT send people to hell, people end up there themselves. God tries to SAVE us from hell, but it is our decision to accept him. God is also a good judge. Say that you killed someone, a good judge would not let you get away with it. God must do the same.
It is sad that the kid decided to end his own life.
If he wanted to go to heaven, he would have asked God to forgive him of his sin, for help with his problem, and had faith that God would help (which he will) , and live his life in a manner that would please God. That's the only way ANY of us will go to heaven.
Edit:
To Irishmom: If the kid knew how to commit suicide, he is in stable mind to know what is right from wrong. He knows that if he wraps something around his neck, it's going to choke him. He is fully responsible for his actions. Where did you get that intellect from?
To KED:
Quote: (I simply ask for a straight answer)
Did I not make it entirely clear in my post what would happen to the child? My point was that a 11 year old is "wise" enough to know that if he wraps a computer cord around his neck and pulls it tightly, it's going to choke him. It's not brain science. You said he is in 6th grade. I think a 6th grader should know better. He just started middle school. Come on, lets be real here, rather than pointing fingers at the one who actually used logic here. What 6th grader doesn't know about death? I'm not trying to be harsh about this kid, but it's common sense. The only other way to logically think this is that the parents did not instruct the child about death, etc...and made him totally oblivious to it. Doubt it.
But since you believe that I am "cold-hearted" and have a bad attitude, even though I said "It is sad the he decided to end his own life" out of pity and respect for the child. I gave you a straight answer, but you choose not to accept it. Obviously, you are not open to another opinion, and wish to be IMMATURE yourself.
Quote: (I'm not here to blacken your doctrine)
I said the straight facts of our doctrine as Christians and it seems that when I logically put down an answer, I become immature. Obviously, you can't accept the fact that I gave you a straight answer about what our doctrine states, and that you aren't open to outside opinions. Seems like you are blackening what I'm saying.

You are right in believing that there is no heaven or hell, a place where the dead goes to. Heaven exists as a dwelling place for God and his angels. Hell is the translation for the Hebrew word Sheol and the greek word Hades, it means grave/pit.
So where are the dead?
Ecclesiastes9:5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.10 All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She′ol, the place to which you are going.
The dead are buried and stays there until the day of the resurrection (for all the dead). Unfortunately, taking one's life is the same as murdering another. God values life, truth hurts, that litlle boy would not be resurrected but remain in the grave even on the day of resurrection.

It is highly revealing that in all the descriptions of Hell in the Bible, we NEVER read of infants or children there. Only adults capable of making decisions are seen there. Nor do we read of infants and children standing before the Great White Throne judgement, which is the judgement of the wicked dead and the precursor to the lake of fire (Rev 20:11-15). The complete silence of Scripture regarding the presence of children in eternal torment militates against their being there.
Jesus and the children. As we examine instances in which Christ encountered children during His earthly ministry, it would seem that children have a special place in His kingdom. Jesus even said, "Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven" (Mat 18:3) He also said, "Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me (verse 5). I don't think there is any way someone could read through Matthew 18 and conclude that it is within the realm of possibility that Jesus could damn such little ones to hell!

Good question- can someone who has committed suicide be saved? How can they? They have no more opportunity to repent!
Good news! Jesus said the only unforgivable sin was blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. We are saved by grace, not by confession of our sin.
Reference- Matthew 12:31
Many people don't understand that God is a forgiving one! In the end times, people are given a second chance to follow the One True Way.

The Standard of YHVH is perfection. (He created this world very good). Since man after sin can no longer make himself very good, YHVH sent the Savior YAHOSHUA to save men from their sins. The only way our sins can be dealt with is for us to invite the Savior in to carry our sins. If we choose not to avail ourselves of His provision, then we choose to remain connected to our sins, in which case we will be burned when they are when this world is cleansed by fire before the Almighty makes it new. How could He be more generous? If a person accepts the Savior as Lord of his life, then he will do those things that the Savior told him to do. He told us not to murder. Therefore to do murder it would seem that one must not have the Messiah for a master. (Sometimes it sounds like a hard thing.) I will assure you of this: In going over the books, no one will be able to say that the Almighty could have been more generous. All will admit that He did the most loving thing He could do.

I've read about two little girls being sold as slaves. They were later killed...
The story was really sad. But that's life, there's no heaven and we have to accept the fact.
I wish there was a heaven though
FYI, Christians will say they are not going to heaven

Only God knows. But I can say that in Islamic belief children are not considered as sinners as they are unaware of the results of their behaviours.

anyone that comitts suicide for sure dosn't go to heaven. its harsh but thats how it is. they knew what they were doing and still decided to die. they didn't turn to God just b/c things got hard in life. they had a purpose in life and then just decided to die. only God has the decision to end your life, not you.
you wanted the truth and i am sorry but that's it.
God bless you.
