Okay, the guy I like will make a funny joke in math class and then I catch him looking at me. Then he will pick at me like he is just a friend. My other friend says that he doesn't like anyone but then again why does he act like that around me?

depends on how old...if you are very young, then chances are the "boy" likes you :)

It sounds like he likes you. A lot of guys won't admit that they like a girl until they know that they have a chance with her.
Next time he makes a joke, wink at him when he looks at you, so that he knows he has been caught out and that you are responding.
Try to talk to him about the situation rather than going through friends.

If he is acting differently around you than he does around others, he probably is interested. He wants you to notice him, and it seems to be working. Find something you have in common and approach him about it. Be a shame to miss out. Just don't have blinders on. Some guys can still be cruel.

the best way to find out is by approaching him and talking with him, catch him off guard and start up a conversation. you should be able to tell if he likes you by his reactions

hey u havnt been open or specific...!! u ve just mention one random thing he does.....!! it could be that he was jus watching your reaction to his joke...!! guyz can be very queer at tymz... they do totally weird stuff wen they like someone (bit like monkeyz...lolll...!! ^_^) (no offence guyz)!
so if hez behavin weirdly around u...not his usual casual self......teasing u....making jokes around u....or just playing wid u (meeting u at ur locker n stuff) then mayb hez attracted 2wards u...!!
