Apparently these people cannot see that Christmas Time is when people shop the most and spend the most MONEY.
If we always go listen to and believe what we see and hear we wont learn anything and we as a society wont get anywere.

Merry does not come from the same root as the other words you mentioned, and may at some time have been written as Marry or Mary ... but Merry means HAPPY, JOYFUL, which is the way people would all be if they thought about what the baby Jesus (the Christ in Christmas, with 'mas' being 'mass' which is told on his birthday celebration day) would grow up and do for ALL of us ... not 'just Christians' but for ALL of us.
