They believe that God will forgive them. Pat Robertson is heavily invested in gold and diamond mining in Africa which has cost thousands of lives over the past few years. He was also a close friend of the now-deposed President Taylor of Liberia.

James B is right. I don't like the guy and his endorsement of South American dictatorships either.
The best thing you and I can do is to expose him. Pat Robertson is one of the richest men in the world. If he is really a man of God he will practise what he preaches. Give up some of his wealth and share it with the poor. What a crying shame; Bill Gates, who is an atheist, is more generous than Pat Robertson a so-called man of God..

Umm NIcaragua is Central America, not South America....not that I support Pat Robertson (can't stand him) but just saying....
A lot of the countries have problems with the dictator leaders taking funds meant to help the poor. It's a sad state of affairs for sure.

Nicaragua was held previously by brutal communists. The best thing that ever happened to Nicaragua was that we helped get rid of the Sandanista government. They do not have a dictator currently at all. Where do you get your information?
I know Nicaraguans, we are able to travel freely and safely there and there is no repression that I have ever heard of by the current government there.
Robertson does not support The dictator Manuel Noriega and niether do they support Hugo Chavez.

A very interesting question! I posed a similar question some time ago and no one at that time could give a reasonable answer. "Gluton" has come as close as it is possible to come. It has always amazed me why they embrace the religion that was the religion of their slave masters and traders when for thousands of years prior, they relied on their own belief systems. I am also an Atheist.
