Hi,
I have been trying to run a formula in a column, based on the column to the left. When I drag the fill handle, it fills the cells with the number of the top cell (i.e. it only copies - it doesn't consider the formula). However, when I click on the filled cells, the equation DOES appear in the formula bar...how do I solve it?

P.S. there are no $ signs in the formula

Is your calculation on automatic? Press F9 to see if it changes.
Try copy and paste, without seeing what you did it is hard to find out what went wrong.

Take the "$" sign out of your formula. Using the $ sign forces the formula to use a particular cell, row, or column. For example

=$A$1-B1
Will subtract whats in A1 from whats in B1. But if you drag that formula down it will keep the $A$1 and only the B1 will change.

Use $ to lock the cell reference that you do not want changed. For Example if you do not want the value in cell D5 not to change, you need to make it $D$5 in the formula.
