music lessons is the answer. often times, the body's other senses will overcompensate for the loss or disfunction in one.
think about how many famous musicians are blind or impaired compared to the population as a whole.
as far as putting him in a special school, only you and he can make that discision. just remember, good musicians are considered cool in school.

sorry, had guests and now i'm back. music is cool cause it's mind and body exercise. it helps with frustration and angst becuase you can express yourself through your instrument.
if you can't afford a piano try a keyboard. if your son likes it there are charities that can deliver unwanted pianos to you. he can even learn piano tuning. a friend in an old band used to tune his own piano cuz he said no-one got it quite right.
if music isn't his thing, find out what he likes and will enjoy doing..
best of luck to you both

It may be a good idea there are a lot of cruel kids in school that dont taking an understanding to conditions such as this. Maybe through music or something?

If you can afford it, I'm all for alleviating his suffering by at least moving him from a public school. I held my son back a few months just so he wouldn't be youngest in class--and bullied--his whole scholastic career. Kids can be more cruel than we realize.
