what would be tought is in the relm of what all is known in science, history, mathematics, even teach about jesus as a person when he was alive and others who have tried to bring peace to the world in some fashion. our human history is pretty much all about war, in religion if you just follow you get to go to heaven or get virgins in bulk or some payoff. ware as with atheism i can teach that life is more valuable then the major world religions want you to believe. i'm also supported by quantum machanics. and teach to accept each other for our differences because we all have advantages in some way, thats why jim henson created the muppets is to teach people about diversity. my dad is atheist as well and is financialy sound to so why not?

i would absolutly love to debate all major religious groups on national television and make them look dumb, science is based on proven facts that more and more are contradicting the bibles writtings, the prophecies in the bible that are suppost to be true are no more discriptive then nostradomis's. i can show you examples of pornography in the bible to, and contraditions up the wazzu, i love peace and want to do what i can to stop the human need to hate or human kind will go no further than this planet in our existance that is my prophecy so there

First place, Why would you possibly want to? And what would you do there? A church is a body of BELIEVERS so you couldn't really have an "athiest" church. I was an athiest for about 15 years (8-23) till my blinded eyes were opened. Happend in the beauty of creation. I had the realisation that evolution had no explanation for beauty -whatsoever. Shizam! I was instantly freed from that lie. It didn't happen in a church either. Haven't spent much time there in the 34 years since. God doesn't need a church building though some insecure Christians who are not sure of their direction or purpose might. Why should an athiest need one. Are athiests also comforted in their insecurity by gathering with others? What shall they tell each other, how little they need God? They can't: they don't believe in Him I think it's a "non-starter" -sorry--Sionarra

Not a "church", but a group.

Actually, there's already a group of people who identify with a completely naturalistic worldview that come together as a community - The Brights.

I know... it soulds like a freaky cult name. It's not. It's a really respectable bunch. Richard Dawkins identifies as a Bright!

you are just repeating the french sociologist august compt. he even talked about the church of science in the 19th century. then they thought that science was absolute, and they were so sure about the scientific truth. but since the relativity, quantum mechanics, every thing is different, and smart scientists are no longer so sure. it seems that you still live in the 19th century. you need a dump 19th century audience to listen to your lectures.

What would be the point? To take people's money when they have none to spare? To waste everyone's precious Sunday mornings? To shelter rapists and murderers? You might as well be Christian.

You can start anything you choose to. As long as you have people who will attend, then you'll be a success. If you fail, then you'll need to explore other avenues of getting people into your life.

It would go against the whole concept of atheism, probably. But give it a shot if you want.
