You want him to do more? He changed mankind. I think that's plenty.

Charles Darwin didn't actually create the theory as such, he linked the species of birds on the galapogos islands and hypothesised that all the birds were too similar and must of once been the same species in the past, so it was he that created the theory of natural selection, which gave the theory of evolution it's strength.

But after much more study he freely confessed "To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree."

So even Darwin himself confessed that evolution was a silly idea!

Charles Darwin did not 'create' the theory of evolution, he formulated it. He wrote down his idea of how evolution may work and yes many people at the time thought it answered the questions to some people's satisfaction.
Charles Darwin did not think he went against God or anyone else's wishes.

No, if he had just made up an idea and broadcast it to the world he would have been a preacher.

Instead he studied the world and understood a part of what made the world what it is today. That's what a scientist does.

He knew what he was up against and he was attacked by the church while he lived. He heroically refused to recant because he knew the church was wrong.

Fortunately, at the time, the church was not allowed to threaten him with torture in order to convince him to change his mind as they had done with Galileo when Galileo had proposed the anti-Christian theory that the Earth revolves around the Sun.

His account of the "Voyage of the Beagle" brought him some notoriety.

He did not create the theory of evolution which was an old idea. He and Wallace independently identified the major engine of evolution as natural selection. His analysis was heavily supported by evidence, including some he gathered himself. He was trained in and excelled at theology, but studied natural history as an aside. It is clear that he was far better informed than you.

for one he did travel the world to make sure he was right. he set out on expaditions to the ends of the world to see first hand that there are different types of the same animal that have evolved differently because of the environment that they live in. the creature adapted to suit it's environment. and taking this into consideration he made a statement that if one does not adapt one dies out "Social Darwinism". he didn't do this to prove that there was no god, he did it to prove that we evolved and are going to keep evolving just like everything else in the world. it's just religious people have a tendency to not except change even when there is proof right in their face.

Darwin tried to subtract God from the order of things. In doing so he became famous to those who want proof that there is no God. There is no proof. However, Charles Darwin has proof now that God does exist.

Alongside Calculus, Relativity and Quantum Mechanics, I would put Darwin's scientific acheivements as one of the greatest in human history. He deserves all the fame he has (and none of the bullsh*t controversy)

1. He wasn't lying.
2. He knew what he was talking about.
3. Do you need him to do MORE than the theory of evolution? What have you done lately?

He admitted it might not be true.

Darwin acknowledged: “If numerous species . . . have really started into life at once, the fact would be fatal to the theory of evolution.” (The Origin of Species, New York, 1902, Part Two, p. 83) Does the evidence indicate that “numerous species” came into existence at the same time, or does it point to gradual development, as evolution holds?
