If there is no God, and the universe did not have a beginning then there would have been an infinite period of time before any event.
And if you believe in God you must ask yourself what did He do before He created us. Of course this is all based on the conception that time continues back forever, whether or not the universe had been created

Let me tell you i am a christian, and im just saying that if there was no God, then there would have been an infinite period of time before any event, that is kind of absurd. this is not a question that can be aprroached scientifically, please put your brains in gear. and by the way i got this question from Stephen Hawkins

this is to the first guy. okay Christians have faith that God created Himself. but scientists say the the Big Bang is science, but for it to be science you must observe it, we never see something come of nothing. a man once challenged Jesus. he said i can create something out of nothing just as you. and Jesus said go ahead. then the man reached for the dirt, and Jesus said that's my dirt, and the man looked at him then how am i supposed to do this?

you're right for anyone to answer this question they have made an unspoken assumption that there was such a thing as time before GOD created us

Religions don't really explain the scientific rules of the creation. They just ask you to believe in what they propose as a symbolic answer to such questions. It's a matter of belief and keeping your mind healthy. You may want to question further but noone or nothing can give you a real answer. Choose one of the answers you are offered and try to live in harmony with the universe.
BTW Nice try motherof3 :)

God's first creation is called 'the only begotten son.' Then followed the angels, as God was helped by his 'only son' in creating them. As all of them were spirits, they dwell not in the physical place such as ours but in the heavens...so perhaps God created the heavens first before creating those who will dwell in there.

Then came the founding of the earth. We read in Job 38:4 Where did you happen to be when I founded the earth?
Tell [me], if you do know understanding. 5 Who set its measurements, in case you know,Or who stretched out upon it the measuring line? 6 Into what have its socket pedestals been sunk down,Or who laid its cornerstone,7 When the morning stars joyfully cried out together,And all the sons of God began shouting in applause?

God's creative days is not the same as our 24-hour days. So there would be million and billions of years in between the 7 days of God's creation, this is why the earth is billions of years old while man is only about 6000.

I don't know what God did before He created the universe and I could go my whole life without knowing. This is not a theological question about God. I don't think it would matter to anyone's salvation or beliefs. But if you figure it out, plezzzzze let us know.lol

We are told in the Bible that there are some things we are not ment to understand on this side of heaven. I think the whole creation thing, where dinosaurs fit in, even where God came from, are part of this knowledge we are not ment to have. I know this doens't exactly answer your question but it's the best that I know.

one thought could be that god was making angels and he just got tired of all that beauty and perfection so he created man!!!
another thought could be that god had created another earth before and didn't like what he saw so after a couple of thousands of years and mankind killing each other god decided to do away with man and start all over again!!maybe he plays a table game with the devil and when they're through they just start over again!!!
maybe i was a philosopher in another life???!!

Try on the concept of nonlinear time... it's mind boggling but logical. Everything, including matter, thoughts, emotions, etc. all arise due to causes and conditions and are empty of inherent existence and are also impermanent, so where's the finite "end"? There is none...
