I am wondering if anyone has any idea on centerpieces for a wedding reception table. Something nice but cheap. I am helping a friend plan her wedding and we have no ideas and we want to do it ourselves.
The tables are going to be round and sit 5-6 people. Any help, pictures, etc would be greatly appreciated!
The wedding is in April.........yeah, this April, haha. So of course, spring colors and stuff like that.
Thanks a bunch!

at my wedding we took a bowl ( we got at Michael's/hobby lobby) and some white floating candles, we put a few drops of food coloring in the water (use the colors of wedding/we made purple) and get some heart confetti and sprinkle on the table the fire off the candles will reflect off the confetti is very beautiful

Here are some tips I learned from planning my own wedding. You do not want the centerpieces to be huge and you do not want them to be really tall because people want to be able to see eachother across the table. Also, we priced out silk centerpieces compared to centerpieces with real flowers and it came out to be about the same. I suggest real flowers because they look so much better. Also, keep the design simple. I wish I had a picture of one of my centerpieces available but they are all printed photos and I do not have a scanner. But, I hope this info helps.

Here is a neat idea for a small table flower:
We used clear, square glass candle holders. Then we filled them with frozen green peas. (Yes, peas!) Then we stuck one flower (we used Gerbera daisy in purple and yellow) in them, cut to just a few inches tall so it won't topple over. Fill with water. We displayed them on Mosaic mirrors with polished rocks scattered along, and Mosaic bowls of lemons and limes. For this wedding, we had a polka dot theme going on. It really was beautiful.
One note, these need to be put together shortly before the reception. They look great for a few hours, then the peas start to look really tired, lol! So don't plan on doing them a day ahead!

I'm getting married this April, too!
This is what my fiance and I have done so far...We went to Wal-Mart down their glass aisle. They have tons of different bowls and vases for really reasonable prices. I bought several for $2 each. I'm going to fill them up with water along with rose petals and then add a floating candle. Around the main vase I'm going to add a few votive candles that I bought at JoAnn's for $5/dozen, and they came in glass holders already.
Definately check out Wal Mart, Hobby Lobby, and JoAnn's.
You can jazz it up with your colors by adding ribbon.
As for the fish idea...BAD BAD BAD! Please DO NOT use fish! What are you going to do with all of these gold fish at the end? Not everyone is going to want to take them home. And by the time the reception starts, you're going to see gold poop in your bowl and maybe a few dead ones. Not a pretty sight!

I would suggest Fishbowls with a few goldfish in each. Fishbolws are cheap so are decoritve rocks to put in them and goldfish are usually about 98 cents or something. When you're done you can release them into a pond or give them to the guests. Or if you dont want to do fish I would suggest you find some of the floating candles and smaller, flatter bowls to put them in. Makes for a nice centerpiece. something to the effect of this... either with fish... or floating candles

My mom, sis and I did clay pot centerpieces for my sis's wedding. We sponge painted 4 inch pots with gold paint, put in plastic flowers and sat ceramic angels on them. They were really cute. Maybe in April you could even do something with pansies and have real flowers.
