First, you have to follow your heart. The thing is, you don't want to be cruel to her friend.
I would approach the one you like when alone. Tell her how you feel, but bring up her friend. Point out her friends good points, and show sincerity. Let her know you don't want to hurt her friend, but still want to ask her out. Chances are, your girl will take care of her friend easily and you will be off the hook.

First thing you should do is be direct, open and honest with her best friend about not having feelings for her. Acknowledge her obsession for you and tell her it won't go anywhere. Guide her gently and firmly into the friendship zone with no ambiguity. This may take a little time - but be firm. Why would they both end up hating you? You have the right to your feelings, and no one should be OBSESSED, that is unhealthy. Ask her out. If she ends up hating you, she wasn't worth your time in the first place.

Go for the one you want and veer away from the obsessive one. If the 1 you like don't like you, then, you've killed two birds with one stone. Literally.
That would make you one of the world's most eligible bachelors. That gives hope to millions of other females you hadn't even considered.
