God is one only, irrespective of the religion being Christianity, Islam, Hinduism etc...
God sends His different sons or representatives or prophets and gives through them much information about God consciousness, at different times in various places.
Much before the birth of Jesus Christ, God had already sent many of His representatives. For instance, in India where I live, there are unlimited information regarding Gods and Goddesses temples present for centuries and not many know abut the exact dates of the various deities. They have been there for all the time. Many saints, sages and rishis have been worshiping various Gods from time immemorial.
According to the limitations of some particular places and knowledge of the persons present the knowledge about the God various degrees.
The oldest religion, Sanatana Dharma or the eternal religion is based on the Vedas which were written around -5000 years back
Judaism around - 4500 years back
Buddhism with the advent of Lord Buddha - 2500 years
Jainism around the same period as that of Buddhism
Christianity with the birth of Lord Jesus Christ- 2000 years
Islam with the birth of ProphetMohammed(pbuh) - 1300 years
The oldest religions Sanatana Dharma and Judaism contain much more information regarding God than the very recent religions like Buddhism, Christianity and Islam.
People become more and more materialistic with the progress of external glamor forgetting the spiritual knowledge. Therefore, the later religions contain the knowledge of God with fewer information. The lesser knowledge about the God, the adherents of that faith tend to be more narrow minded. The more the knowledge about God, the practitioners have a complete understanding in a broader perspective.
The Vedas being eternal was written down around 5000 years back can be compared to an encyclopedia has a broader understanding of God. Whereas, around 2000 years back Christianity came into existence with Jesus Christ has fewer information about God came be compared to a pocket dictionary.
Therefore, it is not surprising to see the difference between a pocket dictionary and encyclopedia.

Allah, meaning God, is the same as El, God, in the Bible. Basically the Qur'an chooses one name for God - obviously the most appropriate one for the listener here, being Allah. It could well be, due to its obvious connection to El, that Allah had monotheistic origin that acquired daughters afterward, but such things are impossible to know. The reality is that man ebbed and flowed around this strong El concept with a greater or lesser degree of monotheism. So the Qur'an takes Allah and purifies it and purges it and brings it to a new understanding. But you will find the Qur'an stating that it doesn't matter what you call God - whether 'Allah', 'the Most Merciful', or some other name, what matters is the conceptual meaning and understanding behind the words, not the sound or form of the word. d

One possible answer is that the "One True God" is inconceivable to human beings. Therefore each culture/society approaches that Divine principle in a way that suits their beliefs, understanding, and particular circumstances.
Looking back over the scope of human history (not Biblical human history, but sociological and anthropological history), this is the only conclusion I can come to that makes sense, assuming that there is a God at all. The notion that the Christian God is THE one true God doesn't make sense to me, because if He IS the one true God, then why didn't He get the memo out more efficently? Instead we have Christianity starting fairly late in the game of human civilization, and even then spreading only through word of mouth and human lines of transmission. There are many people and societies that never had an opportunity to hear about Him at all.
Excellent question, by the way.

Because the Christian concept of God is a relative new comer on the scene. In his most ancient manifestation he was a local tribal war God, a very violent and bloodthirsty one at that. (You can still see evidence of this in the OT.) One of many in a pantheon, he worked his way up to the top. Eventually the ancient Hebrews became monotheists, only worshiping one God, Yah. About 2000 years ago, what would be known as the first Christians adapted the God to suit themselves, creating a new religion, and since that point he has been slowly evolving into the impossible and contradictory idea of a omnipotent God.
Most people are not aware that many different Gods far pre-date the Christian one. I think this is in part due to the fact that they believe the Earth is only 6000 years old.

The plan of salvation was established before the foundation of the world according to Scripture. There is only one God who revealed Himself to man as Creator and Lord. It is man in his sin that began to imagine much later that there were other gods (I've often wondered if it was because of demon encounters). God's salvation plan was first revealed to man in Genesis 3:15. God allowed man to "develop" and choose to "call upon God" or not -until the time of Abraham. Abraham believed God when God spoke to Him and it was counted to him for righteousness. God finally found a man He could trust to bring about the teachings needed to precede His Son's arrival. We were not waiting on God - God was waiting on us.

IF there is only one God, wouldn't it be logical to surmise that all other religions/ beleifs beleive in the same God? DER.
Isn't it our culture that gives a NAME to that God/ faith?
If you lived ina Budhhist Society, you would most likely be a Buddhist.
It doesn't mean you worship the wrong God, it just means you give him/her a different name.
Get with the program, open your eyes and look around you.
The world is no longer stuck in sects, its more fluid now.
I'm afraid if we humans dont learn to be more tolerant, we are not looking forward to a rosy future. And besides Christ is a relatively new concept, when you are talking abut GOD.

There is only one GOD. HE has always been so the make believe "gods" were not even dreamed up until LONG after the universe was created. GOD had the plan of salvation worked out WAY before HE created man...WAY before HE created anything, even the angles, which is where satan came from which is where the make believe "gods" came from.
There is only one GOD and HIS name is JEHOVAH. That is all there is to it.
If you are going to ask a question then why do you give all the answers (from Christians who were your target audience) a thumbs down? If you do not want our opinion then do not ask us.

You need to study The Holy Bible before you draw conclusions or rather assumptions. God has been on the scene from the beginning. God knows what He is doing. You cannot second guess or question His reason for doing things or when He does them. Satan was created by God some time in eternity past. Satan is the creator of all false religions. Nimrod was the first to start a false religion in Babylon in Genesis chapter 10 and 11 of The Holy Bible. God was on the scene doing His thing way before that.

There is, and always has been, one God/Goddess. He/She has been called by many different names, but that does not matter. Unfortunately, as somone smarter than I once said: "God created man in His image, then man returned the favor." Meaning that mankind has always added his own spin on what he thinks God should be, that is why there are so many different beliefs. There is only one God, He/She loves all of us equally, we do not have to jump through any particular hoops to return to Him/Her, do not have to be of any particular religion to get into heaven, because He did not send us here to "fail," but to experience. Why would he punish us for doing what He sent us here to do? God punishing us (we are so puny and ignorant compared to Him) would be like us beating an infant for pooping his pants!

God is the ONE AND ONLY TRUE GOD. After the fall, man became depraved. With depravity, man took upon himself a sinful nature. Man still knew God but chose to follow after sin instead of God. Romans 1:21-23 states: "For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their spectulations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures." Man did not want God over him but without God there, there is a void that needs to be filled. Thus, man made other gods and godesses to fill that void in their life. However, ONLY GOD can fill that in our lives.
