Ok well thank you for all that gave advice about me having to choose between two dogs. We met the basset mix today and fell in love :-) and the good news is the female beagle also got adopted from the shelter today by another family. Now I would like to know your guesses as to the second breed of the basset mix.

I would say pit bull also. Dani K brought up a good point about the ridgeback though.

Hey, Im guessing that you live in Ohio by your name, as do I. I know Cincinnatti has BSL (what a shame!!!!), but Im only about 20 miles north and I don't. ANYWHO, If you are in an area that does have BSL, you could say that she is ridgeback instead and save yourself some heartache and money. Im all for honesty but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I would say a Pit Bull Mix, the face, the muzzle and the sleek body shape make me think that. Good Luck

That is the cutest funny lookin dog ever!! that is most def a pit-bassett hound mix! The wider head, the rose prick ears, the fawn-colored solid coat, deep set eyes, oh, he's a cutie!

I would probably have to say staffordshire terrier. He/she looks gorgeous. Lucky thing that the beagle got adopted as well, all loose ends tied up. Good luck with your dog and i hope all goes well :-)

pit bull - wide eyes and ears, distinctive coloring along the chest. don't be turned off by that - pit bulls are wonderfully loving and loyal dogs. it's a shame that bad owners give the breed a bad name.

IF you ask me, Whippet/Pitbull/Basset. the whippet would make it smaller, and also the ears. It has a Pitbully look about it too.

He looks like a young, adolescent pit bull-mix.
