Hmm.. At the last bit, I guess it's the free will of the composition in our bodies, haha. Honestly though, this is a tough question. All I can think of is karma, but that isn't supported when bad things happen to really good people. Diseases DO contribute to people's life experiences. Everything does. Sometimes aspects of our lives need to be changed, or maybe sometimes we just take life for granted until we get practically smacked in the face with a kilogram of bricks filled to the brim with reality.
Whoever said "life is but a dream" must have missed out on the nightmare part of it for some people.

OK, I'll say it then. No Free Will, why is that so difficult to get across? God is NOT all-loving of everyone. He chooses His own, that's His prerogative. But I doubt that a free-will discussion (i.e. the ability to look to God for salvation) has anything to do with cancer, other than that no one deserves Heaven, and if God didn't reach out to save anyone, we wouldn't have a thing to say about it anyway. And God is still God.

Look, free will is the free will to love and trust in the Holy Lord or not. Why cancer? Why you? We suffer here. Heaven will have no suffering. Hell will have nothing but suffering. Are you scared to die? Where are you going when you leave this earth? You better start thinking about what you say. "This God you speak of" .....what century are you from?

You sound like you need someone to talk too. Im assuming you are close with someone who has cancer. And as usual, when bad things happen to people, they look for someone to blame. That blame sometimes ends up on God. Instead of dealing with the pain and asking the obvious questions: what could the person have done differently....maybe not smoke 8 packs of cigs a day, maybe not tan 43 hours a week at the tanning bed....ect...ect... ect....Instead, its Why would a loving God do this to me???!!! Its not done to anyone out of spite. Every body must die at some point in time, and to die something must kill you. Its called life. Life happens to you, just like everyone else. Same with death. Free will has nothing to do with cancer, it deals with your life. What you choose to do. You can choose to love God and obey Him, or you can choose to ignore and belittle him. It is your God given rite to make that choice.

...and why, if God is so loving, do we have to get fat if we eat burgers and ice cream all day and never get off the sofa? why should we have to actually exert the effort to breathe in and out in order to stay alive-shouldn't He, if He's so loving, do our breathing for us? come on, man, get real! is God supposed to carry you around, cradled in His arms like a spoiled little brat? God gave us brains to come up with medical breakthroughs...is it His fault that our culture places a higher value on being able to drop a round ball through a hoop, knock a little white ball into a hole in the ground, string together a bunch of semi-rhyming obscenities, and parade around half-clothed pretending to be someone else, than actually doing anything to better mankind? as for cancer, there are a lot of cancers (however, not all) that have environmental and/or lifestyle links...if we choose to pollute our bodies and our environment, a price will be paid...God sees the suffering, and He grieves that so much of it could be avoided, cured, and/or eased if we humans would get our heads out of out butts and GROW UP

We live in a fallen world. Sin, evil, bad mojo, or whatever you want to call it seperates us from having a personal relationship with God. We have the free will to accept Christ's gift of salvation, and in doing so are promised eternal life with God in Heaven.
There is cancer in this fallen world, but there isn't cancer in the presence of the Almight God in Heaven.
God sees the suffering, but it isn't his job to make our lives easier here on Earth. God has never once promised to make life on Earth easy or pain free, in fact in some cases He promised just the opposite.
I'm very unclear on where people get the idea that it is God's job to make us happy. Instead I spend my life doing my best to make Him happy.

hmmmm
firstly... we live in a sin cursed broken world, not the original good creation
second... we have fallen natures... we have free wills limited by our fallen natures... someone with a fallen nature will freely choose to run from God... much like a criminal will freely choose to run form a policement
third.. goodness is not God's only attribute... there is also justice and wrath God made the whole universe and will glorify Himself with both mercy as well as justice... God is a complex God and although we can say "God is love" in a sense... God is not only love
fourth... it aint over till it's over... the world is a work in progress... and a major work of redemption is goin on....and planned before the beginning of time.... someday the redeemed will live in a world of love... without suffering or pain or death or cancer... be there... and you can get there if you glorify God, leaning on the work of Jesus on the cross believing for eternal life...
you may freely choose to reject it and take you chances worse off than a homeless person forever shut out from the enjoyment of God
and many will freely choose to bungee jump into eternity without a rope

Cancer is a cruel horrible thing and I don't know why it exists. Certainly no one chooses this nor do they wish it upon another..but I do know from experience that ones attitude of how they deal with the disease makes a great difference. God is there to strengthen us in difficult times. I don't know how people cope with out him.

I don't believe God gives anyone cancer because he is all loving but there are beings that do nothing but evil and make people sick. God just doesn't do evil things but he will allow them and use them to make good things happen that's hard for us to see. The foods we are eating and our lifestyles can make us sick. Harboring hatred, anger and unforgiveness can make a person sick and kill them. Some people think negatively and actually make themselves sick if other of their family members all died from cancer.
The simple things in the bible can make people well like not eating pork and shellfish, forgiving people, laughing, not being angry and prayer. He will will heal you if you ask and believe that he will do it (he wants to) and if you do the things in the bible. Just ask Jesus to forgive you and to be your Lord and he will heal you from cancer or any disease.

Free will simply means you have free will to believe in God and free will to make choices. It has nothing to do with dieing or suffering. We all will pass from this life.
My pastor who was a very loving man had and suffered with cancer for 7 years but still trusted God and served him and he still preached of Gods love up until his last breath. The last thing he said was (Trust him he knows what he's doing)
