I usually use Sonic MyDVD to make a video DVD that can be used in most DVD players. It has a nice little menu that lays out everything that is on the DVD. The only problem is that it's SLOW AS MOLASSES! I tried Nero 7.0 and it appears to have many more features but still takes around 6 hours to complete one DVD. Is there any programs out there that can do this much quicker? Thanks in advance!

There are several things that come into play here.

- DVD Burner capabilities and BURN speed
- DVD Media and BURN speed
- software

For the fastest speed with YOUR DVD burner, use the one that came WITH the burner. It probably won't get any faster than that.

My Sony DRU-830A DVD burner is rated at 18X. It was under $100 at Staples. It came with Nero, and does the trick. I'm not sure, but it probably burned the DVD in under an hour. I only have 5 minutes of patience like you, so I start burning when I am ready to do something else. OH, I usually BACK OFF from the top speed, so I get a better BURN.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Freeware applications (trials) for AnyDVD, DVD43, DVD Fab Decrypter, DVD Shrink, etc. and all applicable info can be found from the experts at www.afterdark.com. Most of these freeware applications work in conjunction with Nero to burn. My process usually takes about 2 hours per DVD backup; Burning copyrighted material (for your own use even) is against the law, and the guys at afterdark.com will remind you of that.

I never really liked DVDXCOPY, Roxio or Cakewalk Pyro - the results (quality/speed) were never as good.

DVDs burn based on the speed of the media in conjunction with the speed of your burner and bus. I use 4x media, despite having a 16x burner because slower burn yields better quality results. I also burn single layer (even though I have a dual-layer burner) because I compress or remove the data I don't want or need and less data requires less space, hence faster (albeit sometimes lower quality) burns. My machine errors more often at higher speeds resulting in lots of coasters.

After Capturing movie, export it into mpeg-2 format. DVD usually supports mpeg-2. Install "DVDlabpro" (you can download from the net) and compile the mpeg-2 to DVD format (*.vob files) (see manual ) and then burn it from Nero.
It is very easy, DVDlabpro allows you to create motion menus. It will take appro. 30 minutes to convert the files to DVD format. This will work I promise you.
