The WEDDING band goes closer to the hand than the engagement ring on the LEFT HAND.... Ring Finger the one next to your pinkie finger.
The (Myth) History - because this is the ONLY finger that has a blood vessel that travels directly to and from the heart!

Engagement rings go in the same place as a wedding ring -- the left hand, finger next to the pinky. This finger is actually called the *ring finger*, on both hands, but it's the LEFThand ring finger you want.
More on rings and matrimony:
Traditionally, engagement rings feature a solitare diamond in the middle, sometimes with additional, smaller diamonds garnishing around it. The actrual wedding band may or may not have this. Some use a larger solitare ring, while others swap out the engagement solitare ring for a band with diamonds in it. Others have a jeweler weld the two together, and in fact more and more you can find these sold as a set.
Traditionally, men wear only a band, sometimes with two or three tiny diamonds, sometimes not. 90% of men in America use a simple, plain gold band, regardless of their financial class.
I hope this answers your question (and then some!).

The left ring finger. The wedding band goes on the same finger as well. Just remember too the wedding band goes closest to your heart so it goes on first and then your engagement band when you wear them together. Now, for my wedding ceremony i did move my engagement ring to my ring finger on my right hand but that was because I still wanted to have it with me but I wanted to make it really easy for my husband to put the wedding band on me and then at the end of the ceremony when we left the sanctuary I put my engagement ring back onto my left hand before anyone saw me. I hope this helps and possibly gives you an idea. By the way these people that are saying index finger actually mean ring finger. I don't get why they are saying index finger.

Your engagement ring goes on the ring finger of your left hand if you also get a wedding band (I just wear an engagement ring though married 6 years) you normally wear the wedding band beneath the engagement ring as this is the place closest to your heart.

I think, normally (at least in the US) the engagement ring goes on the ring finger of your left hand. Then, when you get married, the wedding band goes on first, the engagement ring second (same finger). You can buy a set (two rings together), or two separate rings. I wear my engagement ring on my right hand, and my wedding band on my left (it would be too bulky to wear them together); in the country where I grew up they wear the wedding band on the right hand, so for years I used to wear it on the right.

4th finger (beside the pinky) on the left hand. In the olden days they believed there was a direct line to the heart from this finger via a vein. After you get married the wedding band will go closest to your heart and the engagement ring on top of that one.
Good Luck to you.

Ring should go on left hand, on your 'ring' finger(finger next to your pinkie finger). Some people wear them on their middle finger. After you marry, you remove engagement ring and put wedding band on first then replace engagement ring on same finger. The wedding ring symbolizes your vows and should be close to your heart. GOOD LUCK in your marriage!

Your wedding and engagement ring both go on the third finger of your left hand (the finger next to your pinkie). Congratulations!

If you're in the US your rings go on your ring finger (next to little finger) on your left hand. After your new hubby slips the wedding ring on your finger, you switch it around so the engagement ring is on the outside of your hand. (still on left though)
