It's important to par boil them before cooking, so they are tender. Place the ribs in a large pot (I usually lay them in a row of 3 - 4, then alternate the direction (crosswise) for the next row of 3 - 4, etc). Season well with garlic (fresh or the chopped jar type is best, but powdered will do in a pinch), pepper, and salt. Pour on about 1 cup vinegar (either regular white or red wine) - the vinegar will also act to tenderize the meat. Add 1 cup teriyaki sauce (or other sauce), if you have it. Add water to completely cover the meat. Put on stove, bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low and par boil for at least 1 hour.
Carefully remove ribs from pot (use tongs, if you have them) to baking dish. Brush on BBQ sauce, bake uncovered at 325 for 30 minutes. (Or you can grill on the BBQ, but these will be 'falling apart' tender, so be careful if cooking outdoors). Grilling on top of several sheets of foil or in a grilling basket will work.

What I love to do to them is put them in the crock pot and let 'em cook while I'm at work. Here's how I fix them:

Spray your crockpot with non-stick spray. Cut ribs (they can be frozen) into bite size pieces and put them in the crock pot. Pour about 1/2 cup of water over the ribs. Season with Season Salt, Garlic Powder and black pepper (sprinkle with enough seasoning to coat each piece of meat). Pour a bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce over the ribs along with 1/2 cup of Dijon Mustard and 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Stir the mixture until all of the ribs are coated. Cover with the lid and turn the crockpot on low and cook for 6 - 8 hours or high for 4 - 6 hours until your ribs are fork tender. Serve over rice or your favorite noodles.

Cut 'em up to bit size according to your preference (or you can choose to keep'em whole), keeping in mind they will shrink a bit. Boil them in water that ALMOST covers the meat in the pan and add soy sauce (1/4 to 1/2 c., depending on how much you're making), bay leaf, a pinch of oregano, 4 - 6 cloves of mashed garlic and a peeled onion sliced in half. [Add a drop or two of liquid smoke, if you like]

When it is tender (some like it with just a little bit of give; some like it to almost shredding consistency) slowly add tomato ketchup and sugar to taste. Your sauce will be brown (if it turns red, that's already too much). When done, scoop out of the sauce and toss with your favorite barbecue sauce!

P.S.
You can also serve this, as is, with the sauce it's cooked in.

My husband cooks those all the time! He marinates them for a little bit in some italian dressing, mustard, and worstishire sauce, s&p and whatever else he feels like putting! Then he throws em on the pit and shortly before they come off slathers on the BBQ sauce. They are pretty darn good!

if you have a slow roaster i would use that. thats how my mom does it. she just seasons with salt and pepper and adds some celery and oniion. then when theyve been in a couple of hours she bastes with bbq sauce and does that for the remainder. im sure you could do it in the oven too, but i wouldnt add the celery and onion in there, or i would take it out before the bbq
