Puffed wheat: It is the result of a process where the wheat berry is heated and then puffed up with air making a ready-to-eat cereal that requires no further cooking. This process does substantially decrease the nutrient content of the wheat berry. Making it at home would require special equipment.

There is no "recipe" for making puffed rice. It requires special
equipment. Essentially, one heats moistened rice in a special type of autoclave (a kind of pressure cooker) until the temperature is well above the boiling point of water (the water remains liquid because of the high pressure). Then the autoclave is explosively decompressed by unlatching the cover at one end. The moisture in the rice instantly
turns to steam and expands, thereby "puffing" the rice.
