he probably has abandonment issues...maybe his mother was killed in front of him or maybe he just remembers getting taken away from her to be raised by humans. So since you and your boyfriend raised him he's afraid you will leave him like his mother did.

As for other ppl coming near you two...he's protecting you two from harm. He probably views you two as his pride "family" and he's the dominate male so he must protect his "biitches" so to speak.

LOL i've had my cat for 15 yrs (had him since I was 12) the way I pick my steady boyfriends is running it past Buddy. If he doesn't like them he will piss on their clothes and run away. Cracks me up...if he likes them he will come snuggle with them in bed. So if the dudes pass the piss test...they're in! :) It's just his way of protecting me from harmful males.....trust me animals can tell a good person from a bad person. Sometimes better than we can.

Well, It depends what kind of breed it is. If it is a Calico cat with patches of 2 or more colors around itself, It only has compassion for it's owners. If strangers come near it it can take up to as long as 2 years to get the cat adjusted to that person. They are very very protective of their territory. So it is compleatly common and normal. Just becarful when stranger are around or it might attack. Your cat is fine.

Has he been neutered? If not, that might calm him down. We had an un-neutered cat once who used to attention seek all the time. He hated me and my husband watching telly and used to scratch everything in the room until we turned the telly off! Still. What do you expect from a male?

It is likely the territorial nature of cats to behave this way and perhaps your cat feels threatened by strangers. I thought this site had some interesting answers as to why cats behave certain ways and other cat stuff!

Usually, neck biting is what they do when they're trying to mate!
Strange behaviour tho, I would take him to the Vet if I were you.
I know how frustrating bad cat behaviour is so I hope it all works out. Good Luck!

Hi, Your cat is just protecting you, you are his property it has been said that a cat loves you more that you love it dont know who said it though!!!!! He must love you both very much. The suckling comes from him suckling on his mother perhaps he was weaned too soon from her and this is where this behaviour comes from.

protecting you & your boyfriend as well as his territory, which is perfectly natural for a cat (even if he is a tad zealous about it). though he may have an over-dependency on the two of you. read some feline behaviour/psychology books (i personally recommend www.vickyhalls.net) hope all goes well.

not really protecting you when he rubs his mouth on you he is marking you cats have glands on the sides of their mouths that release their "sent" so they will rub their face against yours or your
neck leg what ever just to call you them and all he's really doing id marking his territory you can stop him acting like this by not allowing him to mark you it'll signify that you dont not wish to be his and that you are the alpha
