With some versions, YES...but... Just use the SAVE AS feature from the FILE menu, and pick the FILE TYPE before you save it.

But the Word document that it makes WILL NOT be what you are looking for in a Word document. The text and the formatting of that text will simply be put into the Word document, and your special Text boxes and graphics will be LOST.

Unfortunately, I don't think so. Microsoft Publisher uses a different file format than the traditional Word .doc extension. Simply renaming the extension is a possibility, but it's very unlikely that this will work, and what will more probably happen is that you will try to open the file in Word after altering the extension from Publisher, and it'll give you one of those annoying little messages that says something or other about the extension not being correct and you can't open the file. Formatting in Publisher isn't that hard, though, once you get used to it. Check http://www.about.com to see if they have any Publisher tutorials that might help. Good luck!
