Well in America the majority of couples get married for "love" and around 55% of those marriages end in divorce. Because love is different then people expect. I think marrying for love is nice but doesn't work for everyone. Arranged marriages are frowned upon here but I don't understand why personally. Your parents usually are the ones to arrange the marriage and they know you pretty well having spent your whole life with you and they want you to be happy and well taken care of so they aren't going to choose some one they don't think is suited to you. Also they have the benefit of experience on their side and know what you should be looking for in a potential spouse. I think its great that you are putting it out there that arranged marriage isn't a bad thing. Because obviously marrying for love isn't working that great for America!

i absolutely have to be in love with the person i marry. an arranged marriage would not work for me and the marriage would be miserable. i am so glad my parents were not like that; that the marriage had to be arranged

historically, arranged marriages were the most stable and some of the best. The current method is tedious and prone to failure as the participants can rarely see the other faults when the parents can see a great deal more.

love. i wouldn't be able to be forced into a lifetime commitment like marriage without loving them first. plus, my parents have really bad taste!!! i found my fiance on my own, and i love him!!! i couldn't imagine being forced inot a marriage knowing that i could've found someone like my current fiance.
