Dogs shed according to the weather. Most shed in the spring and summer and grow in the fall and winter. Excessive sheading can be an allergic reaction such as ingrediants in it's food, corn is often the main culprit. Go to your pet store and get some Chicken Soup for dogs food or some Natural Choise by Nutro. These have all natural ingredents including natural preservatives and have healthy stuff for it's coat. Please read the bag as it takes about 60 days, I think, for a new coat to grow and may have extra sheding durint the regroath time.

This is normal for shedding breeds which are double coated such as Labs, German Shepherds, Collies, etc. It is not normal for dogs with undetermined length coat such as Shih Tzus, Bichons, Poodles, etc. This is the season for shedding in double coated breeds so it may just be shedding the winter coat out (dog coats have cycles) and if so, I would use a Furminator to remove the excess dead coat. Brushes usually won't do much. If there ends up being a bald patch, take your pet to the vet ASAP. They likely would have thyroid or other problems.

consult your vet for sure,.. it is a sign of a more serious condition.
My dogs hair falls out and she has a thryoid problem and addisons disease.
It doesnt have to fall out to the point of getting bald,... if it falls out in chunks or is noticably falling out. .... Is your dog female?
Better test now before your dog has seious problems, with addisons, they have an addisonian crisis and could die from that.
-im not saying your dog is going to die though,.. addisons is very rare!

The reason why your dogs hair is falling is out is because your dog is shedding. When they are shedding it means that you need to give them a bath. This it is quite normal.
