Airlines are and have been very strict in who they hire. They have been for years. That mainly applies to the major US airlines, not to say too much for the discount or cheaper airlines. The training is very intense, and you have constant tests and if you do not reach either a certain score or level, you are sent home... with NO JOB.

Like I said, they do not fool around with mediocre students, and that is what you would be. There are far too many people who are serious about their learning.

I was a ticket and gate agent since 1992. In my school (american airlines learning center DFW airport), we were in the same facility as flight attendants. I underestimated what they did until I saw them jumping out of mock airplanes into cold water and inflating rafts that can hold 20 people within 90 seconds!

The comment someone else left was a tad rude and very untrue.

My sister is also an International Flight Attendant for a major airline.

For Christmas I got her a bumper sticker that reads,

"A flight attendant is to save your A$$, not kiss it!"

Respect those who are trained to save your life!

some Random guy, no, they are no longer getting knowledgeable for turbulence, it comes with adventure. I very almost had a flight attendant in my lap a pair of circumstances. In circumstances of severeturbulencee even the team take their seats and buckle up.
