In this great debate on illegal immaigration what answes would u apply to this problem?

What kind of plans would you desire be in place to pursue, control and stop illegal immigration . ?

First of all, I dont understand why people hate immigrants so much. Go back and check your histroy. Your forefathers probably got off the boat in Ellis Island as an immigrant. You are lucky that you were born here. There are many illegal immigrants in America because they cant live properly in their own country. An example would be a Mexican who is probably caring for a family of 10 through his 5 dollar hour job. You so called "Americans" are concerned that immigrants will take your jobs but so far i didnt see a single American working in a deli, mcdonalds or flipping burger somewhere. These immigrants are doing all the odd jobs. Now the only plan i see to solve these rifts between immigrants and Americans would be to close to immigrantion for good and pursue every single illegal immigrants and send them back to their country. Then we'll see how America really functions without immigrants.

1. Give Mexico a reason to improve their economic conditions so that fewer of their citizens are motivated to leave. I see people get so excited on game shows when they win a trip to Mexico. Anymore, I wonder why. It's virtually here, so might as well save the pesos. Oh, I mean dollars. I'm serious. Start a tourist boycott and watch Mexico fly into action to resolve their own issues.

2. Make the U.S. less desirable for immigrants to flee to. If they want it badly enough, they come and become Americanized, not Mexican annexed. Make English the official language of the U.S. No more bi-lingual instructions, signs, forms, or labels. And for goodness sake, stop issuing Social Security benefits to non-citizens!

3. Immediate deportation for anyone caught in an illegal act who is not a citizen. They do not have U.S. citizen's rights because they are not U.S. citizens.

4. This should probably be #1. Tell folks the truth about the real problem with the immigration issue. It's bad for the U.S.; it's bad for Mexico; it's bad for the individual. We're not "helping" these poor folks who flee from their homeland by placating their desire to be separate but equal. Let the church send some funds and physical assistance to those who need it, then send them home where they actually want to live anyway, but then follow-up with help to keep them there. (Refer to idea #1).

5. Referring to item #4, the word "illegal" has somehow lost its punch. When I was poor (and I was at one time), it never occurred to me to break into my neighbor's house because they actually had a house and were able to live fairly comfortably in that house, even though my intentions would be honorable so that I could better my living conditions for myself and my daughter. If I had done that, I would have changed my address, alright -- a nice 4x8 cell in Lew Sterrett Justice Center. I don't think the special women's jail had been built back then.

6. Children born here in the U.S. by illegal parents would need to become citizens like any other legal immigrant and not given instant citizenship, thereby being established as anchor babies. The kids had no say in coming or not, so if there's any amnesty, I think the kids should get it, but they would have to make a choice of whether to stay here as solid Americans or leave and go to Mexico when they become old enough. So what is "old enough?" That probably depends on their situation -- have their parents been deported?, are they already in high school?, etc. But we let kids choose which parent they want to live with in a divorce situation at around age 13, I think. If they choose to stay, they would need to fulfill the 11 year immigration program that is in place for the legal immigrants. This would be true, even if only one parent was illegal.

7. Until our immediate crisis is under control, close all borders to all immigrants. Then, when the crisis is no longer a crisis, re-open the borders only to desired (friendly) countries.

What's great about this debate? I think illegal Mexicans and others are morally wrong for entering another country illegally and leeching off their taxpayers money. I think the only solution is the Wall with armed troops who shoot to kill. We should also backcharge Mexico for all the free aid we give their citizens and send them half the bill for the new wall. Like they say "Good Fences Make Great Neighbors."

you can pursue and control illegal immigration but i really don't believe we'll ever stop it. To have control that may satisfy most people will probably take another 10 -15 years.

More sensible immigration requirements. We have enough educated people in the US. We have the demand for laborers, we need to make it possible for them to apply and enter here legally, it's about a 10 to 15 year wait if you are not a professional. We need to stop our ignorant hateful ways and remember that your ancestors came here illegally, even forcefully.

In all honesty, I want to see the major street gangs (18th St. or any of the other gangs) kick the crap out of The Minute Men (only the racist ones) and the KKK members. I'd like to watch trash take out trash.

PURSUE - that's fuzzy for me. You mean track down every illegal immigrant (FROM EVERY COUNTRY....expired VISAS etc). I don't know OR have any idea how to do do that. GOD, I wouldn't even know where to start
CONTROL - Stricter border control on both sides. A really good system of tracking expired Visas.
STOP - Well to start. Mind blowing fines on employers who employ. Prison time for the second offense.

TO end........those who have said "implant chips" or "brand" or "put a UPC on their foreheads" are sad people.

In the end, no one should be mutilated. We don't even do that to our sex offenders, our deadbeat dads...etc.

There is no CUT and DRY way to make ALL of us happy. But I doubt "implanting" and "tracking" will make it fun for anyone (well accept those who are using THIS topic as a running board for HATRED).

Next, militarize the border and build a wall to keep the criminals out. Fine employers a larger fine for hiring illegals , put armed guards on the borders, like China does and every illegal person that crosses the borders illegally is detained and sent back with a chip implanted , so we will know that they have been here before .
Make it very uncomfortable for Mexico to allow their people to leave their own country .
How about fining Mexico for every illegal that comes into America .
Stopping any illegal from sending money out of this country .

Build a giant trebuchet and launch a busload of them over the new fence. When it lands on the next group trying to cross, there will be no more problems. The ones here will run for the border, and the ones there will go back home.
