Some of you who dine in at a restaurant have a habit of being so polite and friendly and such a pleasure to wait on, and it's oh so lovely until when it comes time to tip, you substitute our livelihood you leave a pamphlet explaining how much we need Jesus. I have no beef with Christianity(I grew up Catholic) but I would like to know how do you reason that by insulting the very person that waits on you hand and foot by denying us what we work for, will recruit more to your cause? Each time this happens to me I don't comprehend how people literally call themselves Christian. Imagine me singing praises to your church and smiling to your face and flattering your every efforts to support it; and when it comes to raising funds for it or donating money to its cause I give you a hallmark card that says good luck? How would you feel? Cheated? Done an injustice? Why would you go out of your way to make someone feel that way?

I am a Christian, and I know that I'm not perfect, but when I have a meal in a restaurant and leave a tract, I always put money inside it to show the person who waited on me that I appreciated their service. I realize that those tips are needed and help pay the bills, I truly do.
I leave the tract because I sincerely want to see you in Heaven someday.
I leave a tip because I care about your life here on earth, and I leave the tract because I care about your soul.
I just wanted you to know.
I also think that the others who leave tracts should leave tips too.
you are doing a service for them and they should appreciate you for it. I know how hard it is to wait on people, and I'm sure that you deserve a lot more than you get.

I can't say I know how you feel personally and I can rationalize your angst when it happens.

However, we as Christians have a duty to inform all those that are not saved (I was Catholic once too) through Jesus Christ.

In my oppinion it is the greatest "TIP" one could get.

Your angst on this issue because of your dependance on money rather than on faith may change if you choose to take the advice.

I would rather my soul be saved and offer my services to God then to get $5 for a pretty smile, expected service and a meal they paid for.

Yes, I have worked in the service industry many years ago and I'm sure the wages now aren't that much better than they were in the past...tips is the means of why most do the job.

One should realize that your already getting paid (your acceptance of a low wage is something you agreed to do...no one else forced you) and that in several countries there is no such thing as tipping...be happy your in one that practices this process.

So take "that tip" and make use of it...you will find more riches to benefit from if you do then what you could have gotten with the monetary tip you value more.

Maybe a night shift or bar situation would be in your best interest...Sunday brunches are bound to have that happen.

My thoughts....they don't have to be yours.

There is more to life than money.

I have never done that! I did however get a tip of sorts like that back in the day when i waitressed. I have come to this conclusion. The overly religious.. Are plagued with problems such as... believing that everyone will be much happier if we all believe as they do. I am not sure when they will realize that being a pusher of god is the same as being a drug dealer.. Both are insulting. in my mind.. I tell you what though. Every time I saw them come in I pawned them off on the newest person there.. No one after a while wanted to wait on them.. they started getting crappy service from us all.. after we all knew them.. I think in time those sorts of people will get the picture.. unless of course they keep changing restraunts.

I'm Christian, and I can't even believe what I'm hearing. Thats the worst thing ever. It's uncaring, uncivil, unchristian, uncooth (is that how you spell that?), unheard of.
A person who waits on tables works hard for mostly just tips, unless you want to count the $2.00/hr they MAYBE get also.
You know,
One time some guy at the table next to me got up and left with his girlfriend - they walked to the register to pay. The waitor went to their table to get his tip, and maybe take some dishes away, and he found a note that said "plant your corn early". That was suposed to be his tip. This even made me mad because the waitor was real nice, it wasn't like he was a jerk and deserved it or anything.
People can be real assholes; but anyway, the waitor went right up to the people and embarrased them in front of the entire restaurant, and his boss even stuck up for him and told the couple never to come back again.
This was in clear view of all of us customers.

Is there a possibility that you could confront people if they do this to you again? If you won't get fired, I would tell them out loud, hey thanks for not leaving one penny for a tip; I'm sure my five kids and disabled wife will really be thinking lovely thoughts of you tonight. Or something like that......
I'll tell you this: I'd be watching for them next time.

I don't do that, I just ask the server, as the meal arrives, if she/he has a prayer request that they would like us to mention while we are praying over our meal.
And always leave at least a 15-25% tip

I know what you mean too. I used to be a waitress, and any time I got one of those silly cards with bible quotes or whatever, there was never any money. It makes me wonder, If I tithe, are THEY robbing God?!? lol

I'm almost certain they believe that if you read that tract and become a believer, then the reward you'll get from that (Heaven) is worth more than ANY money could offer. And I'd agree.

However, so as not to make you doubt the sincerity of my faith, I would leave money WITH the tract.

I used to be a server and had the same thing happen all the time! Why should I read someone's pamphlet when they can't even tip right? It's so messed up.

Although I have never done it myself I would never do it. Just because it insults you doesnt mean it insult every waitor/waitress out there. There is no law that says we have to tip them. And if i give one it is usually for more than jus the sevice. Dont take it so personaly and dont assume that every person who doesnt tip you is A Christain. You never know who they are. Atheists are nice people too!

My best friend is a waiter and he has stores like this to...he said Sunday after church is the worst time. He says, "They already gave to God, they are not giving to me."

He puts a drop or two of Visine in their drinks! Explosive results!!!

That is almost as bad as the Halloween tract givers.

Now that just plain pisses me off. How dare they give a hellfire halloween tract to a 5 year old!
