Darwin gets very little rain from May to September and few thunderstorms. It is the dry season in northern and eastern Australia with generally fine weather. Little rain, warm days, cool to mild nights. Inland you will get frosts. This is the time of year to visit the Northern Territory, Queensland and northern WA. South of Brisbane on the east coast the amount of rain increases but August and September are usually dry months in Sydney and Wollongong

In southern Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania it is winter with cool to cold nights and mild days, cold at times. It is also the rainy season in the westerly winds that prevail at that time of year. All inland areas are susceptible to frost and there is snow on the Australian Alps.

Lots of interesting places to visit historically.

Canberra Hot bed of politics, confusing road system No shops and mostly boring Gov't buildings and suits Avoid at all costs!

Melbourne Can be wet to very wet with temp ranging from 6-22C
The best, shopping Paradise great transport system!

Adelaide (desert type environment) temp 6-20C Wet windy with intermitternt sunshine. Festival City arts etc
