But then I learned that the vast majority of people in prison were born into single-parent homes. Now I'm pro-choice. As cruel as it is to have an abortion, I think it's much more cruel to bring a child into this world without the advantage of a loving and attentive father.

I'm impressed that you were able to listen and learn and then make a decision. Far too often people close themselves off to information. Not saying everyone should change their opinions, I'm saying that we all could use a little education even if it's serves only to strengthen our resolve.

True that a two-parent home is optimal for a young child's upbringing, but untrue that there haven't been awesome people up and coming out of single parent homes. I personally think it is sad that any woman would choose to allow herself to get pregnant without thinking about the possibilities and preparing for such a time, but we are in a completely different world these days. I choose to uphold life and feel there are many, many adoptive parents out there such as myself who would gladly take a child, no matter what circumstances that child came from and raise them as their own with love. Pro-life here all the way!! Prayers =)

There are a lot of well ajusted people born into single parent families to. Also having 2 parents does not make a person better than anyone else.

wow there are plenty of people in prison who had two parents. plenty of mass-murderers who had two parents. plenty of people who have committed all kinds of crimes that have had or do have two parents...yours is a horrible statistical assumption.

as for pro-life and pro-choice...i feel sorry for those that are pro-choice because the irony is if their parents were pro-choice then they may not be here to even support that view...

i for one grew up in a single-parent home. solely by my mother. my father was nowhere near me, almost 1,000 miles away and i hardly saw him. i work at a school. coach basketball and have helped close to a hundred kids get into colleges to either play ball or just academically. right now i'm in production of a feature film. i'm content and life is good. i've gotten a few speeding tickets..is that my dad's fault because he wasn't there? anybody who says yes to that is crazy. i've got plenty of friends who've gotten more tickets, been in accidents than me and they've had fathers so...

so assuming what you have assumed is bad and what's worse you want someone else to make that decision because of what you assume...i for one am glad my mom didn't.

i believe that too!

i also believe however that people are entitled to their own opinion and if they choose to have an abortion or to keep the baby or give it up for adoption is totally their decision as long as they truly believe they are giving that child a better chance.
i think that if someone decides to have an abortion they should deserve a hug for being so brave it is never an easy thing to do i dont believe people should be critisised over making a grown up decision especially by people who dont know them.

What is your question?

Since you stated that you used to be pro-life then yes I know that you "used to be pro-life" which makes me also assume that you are not anymore.

Hurrah and welcome to the fold. I dislike the term pro-life. It makes pro-choice people seem anti-life which is wrong on many accounts.

We're all entitled to our own opinion, especially about a topic like this.
