Ok that all really depends on your MOS, and what branch of service. No matter what during basic they will be take in away If you get a job like Military Police, Infantry or something in that relm. During your AIT you most likely get them either, but if you have some of the not so much combat support, you will be able to use your cell phone, I dont think you will be allowed to use your laptop though, but you can take it just it will be kept in a locked room. When I went though I was a Military Police, so i didnt get anything till 2 days before graduation. I really depends what branch of service you are going into too.

In the army, you can bring your cell phone, but not really your laptop. When you're in basic, your cell phone stays locked up in your personal bag until the day before you graduate.
When you go to AIT, the drill sergeants take away your cell phones and only give them to you when you have an off post over night pass.
My suggestion is keep your cell phone in your personal bag all throughout AIT and when you get your off post (return that day) pass, you can still kinda use it when you go off post. Just don't use it in the barracks cus people will get jealous and someone will rat on you.

it type of feels as if people are not quite studying your question. that is in hardship-free words as you describe. in case you convey your pc to BCT/Boot Camp then it will be locked up with something else of your civilian equipment. yet those luggage have a tendency to get tossed round so that you better effective convey it in a stunning good bag. The room the position your civilian equipment is saved must be opened and brought care of by skill of every time one among your fellow trainees is shipped residing house. That sorting many times isn't gentle. on the proper of BCT all those products are again to you. the different decision is purely to have your mothers and fathers convey your stuff on commencement day.

You can bring them, but you will not be able to use them during boot camp.
They will go thru everything you bring and lock away any prohibited items until your training is done.
Of course since you might go to your skill training right after boot instead of having leave, it would be nice to have your cell phone and computer with you when you leave boot.

I went through in Feb 92. I remember that they pretty much took any type of personal property away from you in the beginning. You do get it all back at the end. I don't remember where they stored all of our personal property. It's been 15 years, and I went through Infantry school, so maybe they're more lenient now.
